I walked into Crystal Jade looking for a not-so-filling dinner one day. Famed for serving good chinese (cantonese) dishes, this is surely a good place to satisfy the foodie soul. It's amazing how I wasn't even hungry to begin with, but still managed to squeeze in some good dumplings and found the experience enjoyable.And dumplings was what I had!A dumpling meal is never complete without Xiao Long Bao! The thin layer of dumpling skin keeps all the soup and tender meat together. I challenge myself to never ever tear the skin of any Xiao Long Bao while picking it up so that no drop of the succulent soup is wasted.Mixed dumplings and Spicy dumplings!All flavours of dumpling goodness entangled together. It's ironical how all of them are the same kind of food but yet so different it feels like I'm eating a wide array of dishes. Surely every singaporean would have at a whiff of Crystal Jade's!Its' meals always look so simple, and simple meals always mean lovely family gatherings :)Bought some stir-fried veg and it wasn't too oily, extremely fresh and delicious!Felt i was a bit unhealthy by eating a lot of deep fried stuffs, but this is really crispy and it kind of melts in your mouth! The after taste is not as good as smelly tofu though, *grins widely*The congee is soooo smooth and delicious, Crystal Jade is extremely well-known for it's congee! I went to Crystal Jade for lunch last Tuesday. I selected from the la mians section and choose the spicy beef la mian. Although I went in at around 2pm where the lunch crowd is gone, it still took them quite long to serve my order. The beef la mian looks very spicy from the photo with all the chilli oil. The spicyness is just right for me after I scooped out some of the chilli oil. The beef slices are tender and I enjoyed eating it. The only thing is that I thought the serving of beef can be more. Do note that iced water is chargeable at 30cents per glass, so if you feel against paying for normal water, the best option is to carry a bottle of water with you.…查看更多

I went for a group outing to crystal jade la mian xiao long bao. I browsed through the menu and could not decide what to have so I settled from the zha jiang mian. The waitress was kind enough to offer to cut the noodles for me. When my bowl of noodles arrived, the noodles were neatly and nicely cut. They added quite a lot of gravy for the noodles. The gravy was very tasty, it was not too salty and was actually rather sweetish. The noodles were very springy and chewy. Luckily they cut the noodles or else I will have a hard time eating it. they were very generous with the minced meat. I like it that they added shredded cucumber to the dish as it gave it a crunch effect as compared to the tender minced meat and chewy noodles.…查看更多

Unfortunately, this place does not have many options for the vegetarians as compared to Imperial Kitchen or their outlets at the airport but they were happy to accommodate to my order of vegetarian fried rice which was not the menu. The portion was also huge and I had trouble finishing my food! We also ordered the spinach with minced garlic which turned out to be pretty good but a tad oily. Overall, the meal was satisfying but I guess in Singapore, it is pretty hard to find good restaurants that have a vast selection of dishes for both the vegetarians and non vegetarians hence food options seem to be pretty limited. I would not say these restaurants are bad but food is acceptable and tastes pretty average most of the time.Some sources also mentioned that this outlet had a vegetarian menu but it was unavailable and does not seem to exist when I payed them a visit.…查看更多

Yummy QQ noodles. Love the presentation. I always find that it's not spicy enough though. It's good but I've tasted better ones. The chili sauce is awesome and I'll normally add lots of it to the noodles....any noodles I take in the restaurant. Unlike some hot and sour noodles I take elsewhere, the soup base for this is really thick. I like it thick! I cannot remember the exact price though. It's less than $10.…查看更多

I ordered the beef noodles this time round for a change and was pleasantly surprised! I rather enjoyed the clear and sweet tasting broth that had hints of herbal taste from the chinese herbs found within!For my choice of noodles, i ordered the long xiu mian (dragon's beard noodles)! It’s nearly to 9.30pm but Crystal Jade is still opened and the waiter was welcoming us with the smile on their face. I’ve ordered the super big bowl soup noodles which I hardly finish it on my own. You can see many ingredients floating on the soup like tofu skin, bean sprouts, seaweed, braised pork, minced pork, tomatoes and egg. It’s really satisfied my hungry stomach. The taste is ok, not too wow as I thought. I’ve tried the Wantan in spicy oil as well. The Wanton skin is soft and the meat inside is juicy and tasty. Another dinner set at crystal jade and just like the usual, I got to order la mian. It's the best in crystal jade already. I ordered pork rib la mian. think it is getting better, compared to the previous time i had it. The pork is really crispy and i am not joking, it is juicy sweet. I was in town and was craving for dim sum so decided to give Crystal Jade dim sum a try. I ordered yuan yang, custard bun, prawn and parsley puff, har kau, siew mai, yam puff and plain porridge.Guess what, in my opinion the best of the lot was actually the plain porridge which is surprising isn’t it. The plain porridge was very beautifully and nicely cooked that you can hardly see the rice grain. I think even very young kid can take it. It gives a very smooth texture in your mouth. The porridge is sweet and nicely flavoured that you do not need to actually have other dishes to go with. I believed it is cooked with some broth. As a chef says the simplest dish is actually the most difficult one to make. I think this porridge certainly fits the description.The custard bun is as good as the ones from BOSSES if not better. The custard filling contains salted egg yolk and you have to eat it carefully else they will flow all over your plate. The filling has that sweet and salty taste that remains in your mouth after eating. The har kau contains a little soup in it and the prawn is very fresh and sweet. Felt really satisfied having this spicy dumplings, it is cooked just right, dumplings still a bit springy, very nicely cooked with the chilli oil and the spring onions, its very yummy and appetising, i think it should go very well with white rice or noodles!…查看更多

Crystal Jade is no doubt one of my favourite hunts for XiaoLongbao.The Xiaolongbaos taste very good and fresh here, although i waited a good 15 minutes for my xiaolongbaos to be served to me.good food is worth waiting for.I love dipping it into the vinegar with ginger sauce before popping it entirely into my mouth, i love how the soup broth oozes into my mouth and down my throat.
