Seems like the Golden Sands Bun still as popular this year. I saw another bakery selling Golden Sands Bun, this time at Mugiya at City Square Mall basement. This bakery had similar concept as Baker's Talent, the buns were freshly baked and the customers order the bread over the bread counter.I bought the Golden Sands Bun, it was $1.20. The Golden Sands Bun was still hot and had a strong buttery aroma. The bun was soft to touch but the texture was not as fluffy, it was similar to Breadtalk buns, more stiff and more dough. The fillings was still hot and flowing like lava. The fillings tasted of custard with salted egg yolk and caster sugar. It was sweet and salty. Overall, this Golden Sands Bun tasted average, I still prefered the Golden Sands Bun from Baker's Talent.  繼續閱讀

Pass by this cake shop and saw their cakes look nice and presentable so decided to get one to try. The counter was neat and clean and the service staffs are friendly and helpful too. Have bought their coffee swiss roll cake which cost $3.00 per whole thing. Good to cut into 6 descent size cake. Cake texture was abit too dry and not much coffee flavour. Was not too sweet but would be better if more cream was spread in the centre part of it and not really that tasty. 繼續閱讀

Bakery with Japanese Wordings usually catches my attention. "Mugi" refers to wheat while "Ya" in Japanese refers to house. Conincidentally, the stall ladies took out the "Special Offer S$1.10" Sign when I was walking towards Mugiya. Hokkaido Cream Bun was selected as I find it attractive with its bulging and light brown appearance. It looks a little bit rough at its exterior with little needle thin pockets, such exterior did not look as boring as the typical glossy looking buns and it made my choice. As I bite down the bun, I can feel the fluffiness lends the elasticity and springiness through the numerous yeast pockets and comes with a light cream taste.Hokkaido Bun was rather malleable can gets re-shaped easily with just a few side push inwards the buns. Flipped up the layer of the bun and got to see the tasty light cream within it. It tastes sweet and does not over powered the whole bread, amount of cream was consistent too. What a perfect combination. 繼續閱讀

We bought a Mango cake for a friend's birthday. There are few bakery in City Square Mall and we were trying to find a smaller cake as we found most friends in the group are not sweet tooth. We choose Mugiya, a Japanese bakery because it has smallest whole cake and price is reasonable. We all never try this bakery before but it looks good at the display window. The cake tasted good, I like it as it is less sweet and it is soft. Although I love all kinds of desserts but I prefer the desserts to be less sweet. http://rainfooddiary.blogspot.sg/2013/07/mugiya.html 繼續閱讀

After having tried their pork floss bun which I really liked it, I decided to try their spicy shrimp version which looks very similar, just different appearance and fillings.Once again, this does not disappoint me, with the same bun texture and buttermilk filling, this time round, with their tasty spicy shrimp fillings. The spicy shrimp too, matched very well with the buttermilk filling, giving both savoury and sweet taste in every bite, thus every bite is an enjoyment for me.The spicy shrimps are quite generously spreaded throughout the whole bun too.The seaweed flakes and sesame seeds are more of decorations though, didn’t really add up to the overall taste. But overall, their buttermilk filling is enough to satisfy me. 繼續閱讀
