Stop by Balestier Rd on Sunday to get tau sar piah but the shop was closed. So I walked down a few shops away to 603 instead. There are various fillings available- pineapple, lotus and others like lao po bing, log cakes, etc. Bought a box of 10 pcs with a mix of salted and sweet ones. It costs me six bucks. Whenever I drive pass Balestier, my wife would ask if I can stop by 603 Tao Sar Piah to buy some for our family. Their Tao Sar Piah is very fresh and it is always warm when you eat it immediately. We will always but a mix of sweet and salty ones. The pastry is not hard and the filling is just the right proportion. This shop had been there for very long. My family just happen to drove past that area and decided to get tau sar piah as we really love it many years ago.This shop sell a lot of flavours for the tau sar piah, like green tea, coffee, durian, etc, unlike the usual ones which only have salty and sweet. The tau sar Piah here is not bad and is one of the better ones available in Singapore. The pastry is crisp and crunchy with clear distinct layers. The pastry surrounds a sweet moist interior which is really tasty. I love the salty ones for the contrast of sweet and savory, but really enjoy the red bean flavoured ones too for the delicious red bean flavour. Another choice for all to choose from if you are a tau sar piah lover. This shop is just nearby Loong Fatt and can feel the competition. But there are much variety here and my dad bought Green Tea flavour back. That is his favourite. Though I am more used to the traditional taste (salty and sweet type) but when I took a bite, it changes my mind. 603 Tau Sar Piah sells a variety of flavors of tau sar piah. It includes flavors of Tau sar, coffee , durian, green tea and pineapple which is either sweet or salty. I especially like the durian flavour because i love to eat durian. Generally It is crispy on the outside and it has enough sweetness on the inside ! I simply love the crust.

Wanted to try the Salted Tau Sar Piah but is sold out when I went to the stall at 6pm. Hence, I ordered the Pineapple Tau Sar Piah and Sesame Tau Sar Piah instead. Despite the fact that both of these flavours are not the signature Tau Sar Piah of 603, they taste really good. As the Tau Sar Piah from 603 is very fresh and delicious, I will definitely visit this stall again...but will have to go earlier so that I get to try the signature salted Tau Sar Piah.

Ever heard of the tau sar piah at Balestier Road?
