開飯介紹
Chicken rice is a signature dish in Singapore and while Ah-Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice looks deceivingly simple, it tastes extremely delicious with its fragrant rice and perfectly cooked chicken, achievable only by years of experience by our chef, Ah-Tai whom has 20 years of experience cooking Chicken Rice. Ah-Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice is perfect for brunch, lunch or dinner. Delicious and reasonably priced at only $2.50 per plate. 繼續閱讀

Ordered the chicken rice set ($5) the rice was delicious. The chicken was the breast area hence it was a bit dry. We came here because Tian Tian was closed and there was a massive queue here so decide to give a go. 繼續閱讀

Located just a few stalls down from Tian Tian chicken rice is their biggest competitor created from a spat between the original owner. The queue for Tian Tian on a sunday afternoon at 12pm had easily 50 people in line, Ah Tai on the other hand, only had maybe 5-10 people.Sadly though the lady in front of me ordered 18 boxes of chicken rice which resulted in a bottleneck.Watching them prepare 18 boxes of chicken rice let me see first hand how much work went into preparing the chicken rice. As you can see the background, the man with the cap was fishing out several whole chicken bones from the soup! It's no wonder the soup was so tasty and yet not peppery! I didn't feel too thirsty after drinking half a bowl of soup.I was very happy with my plate of chicken rice. The rice was flavourful and the chicken was very moist and tender, so much better than the Yishun 925 chicken rice I just had a few days ago. I happily gulped down the entire plate and I will definitely be back with more friends and family to devour a whole chicken next time! 繼續閱讀

Ah Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice at Maxwell Food centre. Ah Tai was the former master chef of the famous Tian Tian Chicken rice for 20years.I prefer Ah Tai Chicken RICE to Tian Tian. Ah Tai rice not too oily and of the right texture. However, Tian Tian one too moist and soft.Tian Tian chicken is smoother than Ah Tai chicken. But Ah Tai chicken is already consider quite smooth la.As for the sauce, both Tian Tian & Ah Tai taste light... but I prefer Ah Tai as Tian Tian one is too bland and sticky.Overall, this two chicken rice is definitely one of the best in Singapore.Ah Tai chicken rice for tonight dinner. Half chicken, 5 packet of rice S $14.50 for 4 of us. 繼續閱讀

This marks my second visit to Ah Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice 阿仔海南鸡饭 since its inception, my first since it's license was suspended for two weeks. As I have posted about this before, I shall not dive into it again. As mentioned, Ah Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice had it's license suspended by NEA for two weeks as it had accumulated 12 demerit points in the last 12 months for issues related to keep the premise pest free and preparation of food. (I wonder who rat on them.. I smell a rat. No rewards for guessing who I suspect.) Since the stall has opened for business, with NEA strict guidelines, checks and hygiene levels, I was confident that the food was safe to eat. As the saying goes, 'the safest place is the most dangerous place'. I am quite sure that the food is very clean and safe for consumption! Anyway, a side note is that this is a hawker centre not a restaurant, what more do you expect? If you thought that the NEA suspension of Ah Tai would have affected their business, then you are wrong. There was a long queue of more than 10 people queuing to order their chicken rice. One of the other reason for the queue could be because Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice was closed on that day. Order my usual stuff, Chicken Rice $3 with Gizzard $0.50. In addition, I also ordered a plate of Bean Sprouts that cost $2. The Bean Sprouts served with sliced chillies, shallots and spring onions were drizzled with a combination of light soy sauce mixed with sesame oil. The Bean Sprouts were so crunchy and tasty that they were highly addictive. A good match for the Chicken Rice. The standard of Ah Tai's Chicken Rice seemed to have improved compared to the version I had on my first visit.During the previous visit, although the rice was fragrant and flavourful, it was hard and dry. However, during this recent visit, the it was moist and soft. Couple with fact that it had just the right mix of fragrance and flavour, it was easy to indulge the rice on its own. This time, the meat (chicken) was cut properly and was as tasty and tender as before.Overall, I would say that the Chicken Rice at Ah Tai has improved! It was delish and certainly tasted much better than before! Detailed review: http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2013/03/ah-tai-hainanese-chicken-rice-maxwell.html 繼續閱讀

Maxwell Food Centre has plenty of chicken rice stalls so you are spoilt for choice. We tried the Ah-Tai Hainanese chicken rice (1 whole chicken) plus a few other dishes. Okay, the main star of the dish, the chicken - it's not bad but not as smooth as I expect it to be. The sauce is lacking in flavour which doesn't help because such chicken are usually quite bland so a good sauce is essential to let it soak up the flavour. I'm fussy about my chicken rice, so the texture & flavour was only so-so for me. The rice is less oily than most chicken rice which is good if you want to cheat by telling yourself it is "more healthy". We had veggie, bean sprout and chicken liver & gizzard. I enjoy the liver & gizzard as they add extra texture to the overall meal. The veggies and bean sprout...I'm not so fond of. Pretty much standard fare. 繼續閱讀
