Set lunch are always priced so much better than dinner. Another plus point for dining here during lunch, it is less crowded, resulting in better and faster service. I had the Bratwurst Sausage ($9.90). Versions of it varies greatly across germany, and I am not sure if this could be considered as the "authentic" version. Tried the pasta, Tiger Prawn & Bacon - Garlic Butter & Pine Nuts ($13.20) at Ambush sometime back. Not impressive, and rather forgettable, as the whole dish was quite bland and not flavouful, so wouldn't recommend it. Ambush's Thai Basil Salmon Pasta is much better, very flavourful but not jelat even after eating the whole plate. Service was also good although the place was quite packed.…查看更多

Ambush is one of my personal favourite go-to places for European fare. Ever since discovering their Jurong Point outlet, I had always wanted to revisit them for their food was so memorable at that point of time.The Herb & Parmesan Crusted Mushroom with Cheese Puffs we decided to share were great. We originally thought it was an item combined, so we were quite surprised that Crusted Mushrooms and Cheese Puffs were actually two seperate items. They were complimented with a cheese dip and a tomato-based sauce that is rather similar to tomato-based pasta sauce. The cheese puffs were rather fluffy. Unlike cheese sticks that is also fried cheese, the cheese puffs do not contain stringy melted cheese but the more fluffier sort. The Crusted Mushrooms are more like breaded fried mushrooms and they were juicy while not really earthy as some of it was covered by the taste of the fried batter. One tip for this dish; the Cheese Puffs taste better with the tomato-based dip while the Crusted Mushrooms are enhanced by the cheese dip somehow.The Bolognese & Meatball pasta was nice too. I find it a welcoming change as I often find Bolognese pastas not having enough meat elements in them, which is now well complimented with the addition of meatballs. The meatballs were really fine as there wasn’t any roughness in the meat texture. Nice environment at the Ambush outlet at Plaza Singapura! Had the squid ink paella with seafood. The Seafood included scallop, prawns, clams and mussels which were pretty good. The whole dish had no colour and was totally black. (didnt took a photo). The dish wasn't serve on the traditional hot plate used to cook paella. However, my friend who had the ambush's white paella had his served on the hot plate. My dish, the paella, was slightly salty but overall deserve 4/5. …查看更多

It was my cousin's birthday and I brought him to Ambush for dinner. It was our 1st visit there and the ambience was to to my liking. The lights were not too bright and it was a relaxing environment. I ordered the Crispy Chicken and Seaweed Pasta (S$13.00), while he ordered the Salmon with Thai Basil Sauce Pasta, which I forgot to take a photo of. :( The staff who served us was friendly, and answered our questions promptly regarding the food available. Although the time it took our food to come was quite slow (we waited for about 20 minutes), but the food was totally worth the wait! :)Crispy Chicken and Seaweed Pasta: The pasta was cooked to the right texture; not too hard yet not too soft. It was aglio olio style, and the chicken was really very crispy. The portion was pretty big, and I didn't manage to finish it all. However, I did finish the chicken as it was just too nice to waste! The outside was crunchy, and inside was tender. Not like those popcorn chicken we usually buy in frozen packs from the supermarket. Overall, 100 marks for this really nice place. The casual European bistro chain Ambush is a popular & successful addition to the mass market western restaurant segment, posing fair competition to its peers like Aston's Prime, Pepperdine and Saveur. Two new Ambush Restaurants have opened in the short span of three months, first in the Atrium@Orchard, new wing of Plaza Singapura and now at heartland megamall JEM.Ambush has a broadsheet menu listing its F&B offerings. The menu is not extensive but nevertheless offers a fairly representative and adequate range of European favourites from paella and pastas to hearty staples such as sausages & rosti, pork knuckle and fish & chips. The menu may not be large but most items on it are well executed and affordably priced - all that matters to the budget conscious but discerning heartland diners.Mini Lamb Shank ($8.90++) was an appetizer or tasting portion of their famous Braised Lamb Shank. The meat was juicy, flavourful and tender, served on a bed of mashed potato to soak up the hearty rich gravy, and a generous side of thick cut frites.Vongole pasta au vin blanc ( $13.50++ / weekday afternoon special price of $9.90++) needs no introduction - lots of fresh clams coked with butter, finely chopped onion & garlic and white wine sauce poured over your choice of pasta - spaghetti, linguine, fusili or penne. Delish! An a la carte order of a pot of clams or mussels cooked this way or in your preferred style, will set you back $14.90++.Apple Crisp ( $6.90++) is actually an apple crumble pie made of buttery short crust pastry, served with vanilla bean ice cream and a drizzle of caramel syrup. The contrast of flavours and textures is great and I liked the light hand with cinnamon so that it did not overwhelm the refreshing tartness of the granny apple filling.Well, Ambush has certainly got their culinary concept and pricing done right. What I would like to see is the inclusion of four or five homestyle hearty soup or chowder on its menu eg borsch. Dinner at Ambush seems to be the in thing currently with long queues once it hits 7pm. I didn't make a reservation but I went pretty early (around 7 or so?) to ensure that we'd get a seat. The open-concept of Ambush gives it a really spacious feel.Ambush serves European and German food, such as bratwurst sausages, sauerkraut, squid ink pasta just to name a few. It's been relatively popular in Singapore, with several branches poopping up all over the island.I ordered the sausage set with 2 sausages (choice of sausage being smoked bratwurst) with a starch side of rosti and sauerkraut. It's around $12.90 (if I didn't remember wrongly) for this plate of sausage, rosti and fresh greens. The smoked bratwurst had crisp skin with tender pork meat, it was on the salty side but very tasty for a smoked sausage. Way exceeded my expectations. The rosti was served with sour cream and sauerkraut (which tastes a bit like the chinese cai por if you've never tried it before!). The rosti was a bit bland for my liking, but tasted great with a dash of salt. The sour cream wasn't too cloying and provided a nice rich finish. The fresh salad had a dressing of presumably balsamic vinegar -it could have been a bit better with a touch of olive oil. 3.5/5My company tried the ribeye at $21 and while we absolutely adored the fries (distinct fluffy potato texture, fried to perfection, evenly salted and delicious on the whole), the steak was mediocre at best. He rated it a 3/5, so I suppose you can get better steak elsewhere!The huge hype over Ambush is justified I suppose -the food they serve here is pretty good and the service is decent too. Ambush is a restaurant that serves pretty nice Europrean food. Ambush is located at Plaza Singapore (at the new wing), Singapore. Mrupupup missed European food from countries like France and Belgium. Ambush restaurant's food dishes reminded Mrupupup of Europe. Sighzzzz...... Mrupupup thought of the days travelling through Europe. Mrupupup ordered escargots (snails) (about $7), pots of mussels ($15) with thick french fries (so like Saint Malo in France) and sausage platter with rostii (about $14). Totally satisfying meal! The sausages were great and came in three flavours - mushroom, pork and chicken. The mussels in a pot was so similar in style as the one Mrupupup ate in a village restaurant in Saint Malo. Mrupupup 'cleaned' up all the mussels and the white sauce that came with it. The escargots were nice in olive oil too. Always wanted to try Ambush, was so glad that it opened an outlet at the new Dhoby extension. Environment was good, not much of a crowd during lunch (but still advisable to make reservations).Marinera Paella: looks so good presentation wise, but fails to impress with its taste. The soggy rice was flavourful, but not appetizing after a few mouthfuls, couldn't finish it in the end.Salmon with Thai Basil Sauce Pasta: this is surprisingly good, salmon well marinated and the sauce adds much flavour to the otherwise bland-tasting spaghetti.Overall reasonably priced mains and good dining environment. How would you like to describe your dining experience at ambush? I would say... hmmm i felt ambushed..Ok all jokes aside, i actually had a great time with one of my distant relative and hearing that OpenRice actually had a food tasting there made me wanna try it even more.We had meatballs with brown sauce and fries as a starter. Hmm meatballs... interesting tastes... the meatballs was a little dry due to the nature of it but was complimented by the brown sauce... We had additional brown sauce to let the flavor sink in.. It was served on a bowl with the brown sauce and also a side dish of straight cut french fries...I had the squid ink pasta with the fish eggs and scallops... Hmm very very interesting taste... A little bit fishy to me but i guess it was really ok for me... It was a slight hint of cream flavor nostalgia. Hmm i also don't know what i am talking about but roughly it was ok to me... I dont really like stuff thats too funky... My teeth was a little black as expected but i guess it was quite good.She had the ambush paella... hmm really not too bad... scallops, mussels, clams, prawns served on a tomato risotto... quite good... tomato puree base a bit too strong but manageable.I had no beverages but she did... quite good... the apricot beer or something like that... well that is according to her. For me, this is not the first time I stepped foot into Ambush. Their outlet at Jurong Point is my favourite place to have a simple dinner with my friends and family, to catch up and meanwhile, enjoying good food. This time, I am very honoured to be invited by OpenRice to be a part of the food tasting session! Actually, I have been to this very new outlet @ Plaza Singapura a few weeks ago. I tried the squid ink pasta with seafood which the Jurong Point outlet does not have (if i remember correctly), and it was fabulous! I was quite afraid to order that dish as the black ink seemed intimidating to me. However, I did not regret my choice and really enjoyed every "strand" of pasta! :) (sorry I dont have a picture for this.) This time round, I get to try Coq Au Vin, which is chicken cooked with red wine and some vegetables. I must admit, I myself is quite a wine-lover hence the choice of Coq Au Vin. The red wine gravy was very much strong and rich taste and compliments with the chicken which is also well-cooked. Overall, I feel that this dish is a must try! The OpenRicers shared the mussels pot and pork knuckles during the food tasting session. I personally like the pork knuckles more, as I have tried the mussels pot at the other outlets. The pork knuckles comes with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables. The pork was crispy on the outside and the meat was tender enough. And I have to say, Ambush always makes the best mashed potatoes. Two sets of mashed potatoes were whipped clean in minutes! Aside from their food, I think their new location @ Plaza Sing is quite good and would be able to attract more people to come.
