ROSE MACARON

It is a sweet-tooth macaron, no worries the level of sweetness is just nice and and the taste of the ROSE bandung really can warm up my day
The big size of 1 macaron can made up nearly to 3 normal macaron we eat

Cheesy Tater Tots
Finger food of small cut of crispy golden brown hash brown served with melted cheddar cheese sauce. The cheese was very special. WHY ? because yup, it from the point view of the color itself similar with a cheese we usually eat together with nacho. But the taste is totally difference .. !! Not cheesy.

Homemade Pacific Crab Cake

Sound interesting ? ? ? CRAB CAKE .. Although it is a bit salty but it really taste good with their in house seasoning of French 'esplette pepper mixed with bell pepper and the add- ons of lemon butter sauce and mashed potato.

I got a foot-long toasted bread with pretty well marinated pulled pork meat, topped with coleslaw. Taste pretty good but portion was just too big...I was unable to finish it!
Homemade garlic herb pesto pasta with prawns $25++, another new item in the menu. My friend picked the Bow Tie pasta over the other choices of linguine and penne.

The dish came with 8 huge pieces of succulent whole prawns. The pesto sauce was pretty tasty and bow ties were done al dente, my friend was happy with her pick.
Boeuf bourguignon $28++, my friend's fave dish. The chunky slow cooked beef cheeks were very tender and well flavored. Serving was generous as usual.

As we were quite full from having the main courses, we decided to just order one dessert to share for 3pax.
Nutty crunchy French toast $20++, we chose a really sinful one from the Toasts & Pancakes section. We got two thick slices of french toast bread coated with crispy cornflakes, topped with choco hazelnut cream, sweet banana slices, choco fudge sauce and sprinkled with choco pearls.

The cornflakes coated bread was very well executed, with crispy flaky exterior and soft and warm center. The hazelnut cream was yummy and pairs well with the sweet banana. This dessert dish was nice but a tad too sweet for our liking.
As the restaurant has stopped serving complimentary ice water (2 months ago), we ordered several drinks to wash down our hearty meal. My fave was the Sprite float w/ strawberry gelato $10++, the strawberry gelato contains bits of real strawberry in it, very nice!

I think we overspent on beverages! Half of our bill were drinks we had 


Service here was decent, so was the food, but its too expensive to keep buying drinks to quench our thirst without complimentary drinking water.

It was after a long tiring and yet fun walk at the i Light Marina Bay event, both my friend and i was getting tired and so we were craving for truffle fries since we ended our night at MBS. First choice that came to my mind was Au Chocolat! Had their truffle fries once but ate very little plus it was for sharing with a group of friends so not very shiok. From a distance i could already smell the fragrance coming from the truffle fries and i will keep checking if it's our's! Haha. Au Chocolat version is good! No wonder it's so popular. Fries are of the right thickness and i like the dipping sauce that comes with it - bbq and mayonnaise! 

We even shared a pot of Berry Wonderful Tea which was a pretty good choice if you like the fruity kind of tea. It's something i don't mind ordering again for my next visit =)

It was quite a weird timing when my boyfriend and I wanted to dine at Au Chocolat. Au Chocolat is one of my favourite restaurant. Situated inside MBS, it is the first made-in-Singapore French-inspired concept store. Their truffles fries is probably one of the best i've tasted. It is so pretty! plus point for nice packaging. The flavors that my friend ordered are salted caramel, strawberry, dark chocolate, orange, mocha and vanilla. There are three sections to Au Chocolate which is tucked quietly away at a corner of Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The first shop front to greet would be the confiserie, which is a confectionery and chocolate atelier filled with candies, chocolates and all sorts of imaginable goodies! Then we also have a small takeaway counter which is located between the confiserie and the bistro. You would expect to find a wider range of cakes, macarons and pastries at the takeaway counter but if you fancy a dine-in at the bistro, do not be shy to request for your orders to be sent to your table!

What I particularly enjoyed about the truffle fries were that they were carved out of fresh potatoes where you could still see the potato skin attached to some of the crispy strips. It was drizzled with fragrant white truffle oil and seasoned with truffle sea salt. On the sides were mayonnaise and BBQ sauce to go along. Quite frankly, while we enjoyed the crisp texture of the freshly fried fries, I felt that the truffle fragrance lacked depth and intensity. The mayonnaise and BBQ sauce were nothing too great to rave about. Overall, it was good but not impressive.

The mushrooms came simmered in red wine sauce, paired with freshly baked bread and served with tasty tomato and olive jam. While we liked that the mushrooms retained the firm texture, giving it a slight chewiness and bounce, the flavours of the expected red wine sauce was slightly disappointing. Probably owed to the strong natural fragrance inherited from most mushrooms, the sauce failed to shine and tasted more like a good gravy. Coupled with the freshly baked bread which had a beautiful crisp crust to it, we enjoyed the complement in textures. The tasty tomato and olive jam tasted more like a variance to a tomato-based mayonnaise and while it did come appeal on my palate, it was well received by the ladies.

This was a rather confusing and misleading drink to begin with. I struggled to find any element of 'hot chocolate' within the drink to give it any qualitative value. It was described as 'an all-time favourite' on the menu and since it resonated with the bistro's signature, we felt that it should be a 'MUST-TRY'. We were left hugely disappointed as it tasted plain pedestrian. With a generous amount of whipped cream crowning the frozen cold chocolate icy bits, the amount of calories in this drink would blow your mind off. The taste of the chocolate tasted mild and lacked intensity. We felt that the quality could have been better to warrant a simple iced cold chocolate drink at S$12++.

This drink took an awful long time before it finally reached our table. I submitted my request on two separate occasions after the order and on each occasion, I was assured that it was on the way. When I finally decided that I had enough and wanted to cancel the order, they seemed to expedite my request and had it before me within two minutes.

Au Chocolate Benedict (S$18/++)

You could see that while it passed the classic eggs benedict test, it was not perfect. The poached egg did not look neat and I somewhat felt that the egg looked slightly clumsy and out of place compared to the one we had previously. I did not like the fact that there were 'lumps' of egg white and egg yolk.

While the overall presentation with the muffin and bacon looked good, I was expecting a stronger punch in flavours and tastes from the homemade hollandaise sauce infused with red wine and dark chocolate. Again, the red wine element was sorely lacking and when enjoyed as a whole with the other elements on the plate, the dark chocolate failed to shine through. To give it credit, when we tasted the hollandaise sauce on its own, you could taste the chocolate taste cutting through, albeit mildly.

I might have set my expectations too high with the homemade hollandaise sauce but everything else on the plate was spot on. Crisp bacon and well toasted muffin with a nice portion of salad on the side.

While browsing through the beautifully illustrated menu, I was drawn to the savoury crepes which seemed unique as compared to its sweet counterpart. One would normally crepe to come with a sweet offering so this took me by surprise and the adventurous side of me decided to go for the smoked salmon.

The smoked Norwegian salmon came with finely-sliced crunchy Granny Smith apples covered in a rich cream sauce. When given the choice of a plain crepe or a chocolate rendition, we went for the latter. The crepe was freshly baked and there was a nice fragrance to it. It felt elastic and I found the thickness of the crepe to be ideal without too much flour to make it look like a pancake.

I thought that the combination was well thought out and sublime. The sweet and mildly sour tang from the green apples also gave a refreshing twist to the savoury smoked salmon while the textures were also well complemented with the crunchiness of the green apples.

The salad on the side was surprisingly addictive as it was topped with Au Chocolate's unique chocolate balsamic vinaigrette. While the salad was fresh, the dressing made all the difference with a perfect balance in acidity. Overall, this dish made my day and sealed it for me.

I think that Au Chocolate has a beautiful setting and the intended 'magical world' decor that it was trying to achieve was certainly spot on. It seemed to transcend away from the affluence of the Marina Bay Sands into a corner reserved for the young and innocent. While the prices of the dishes certainly did not come cheap, it was affordable and well worth the experience.

On the customer service aspect, I felt that some of the staffs were trying a little too hard to be nice when they failed to address the basics, such as making sure that orders were taken and making sure that they get served to the customers in a timely fashion. They were polite and humble in their conversations and was well appreciated. Overall, I felt that Au Chocolate is a decent bistro which has that relaxed ambiance for the diners but I would be more selective on my next visit.

We ordered Duck Confit it comes with dark chocolate infused grapefruit sauce, with pear compote and mashed potato and meat . The meat is tender and mashed potato soft and melt in your mouth

Ultimate Benedict contains strips of bacon, chunks of chicken and beef, poached eggs and 2 thick layers of pancakes with Hollandaise sauce taste delicious and the bacon is crispy and not oily.

This is one of my favourite dish whenever I visited here. At the price of $18++, is consider quite expensive. Smooth juicy chicken fillet is served with crunchy bacon, fragrant garlic and sautéed sliced mushrooms with generous amount of thick sour cream sauce topped on it. Super delicious and appetizing. The service here is super good and friendly and restaurant is very spacious and comfortable too.

A different musical tonight, I was here early for Stomp! And wanted a nice sit down dinner.I loved the casserole it was served in and the salads were as redolent of Christmas as my previous visit. Digging into my first spoonful of the three cheese mac, I found a hunk of pork ham and slightly overcooked macaroni. Now the thing that really got me, was the lack in dimensions. Salt. It definitely needed a little more salt and the taste was flat. It just tasted like an overwhelmingly creamy overcooke

Salt. It definitely needed a little more salt and the taste was flat. It just tasted like an overwhelmingly creamy overcooked dish. As much as i liked my mac and cheese, at $24, I wish I had stuck to my good old crepes instead.

The plan was for dinner before we indulged in dessert.Truffled fries ($15)these thick straight cut fries were tossed in white truffle oil and flavoured with truffle sea salt. a substantial portion served with mayonnaise and bbq sauce. perhaps instead of bbq, they could change it to a curry or wasabi mayonnaise dip.This was a good starter and as hard as it is to share, these carbo laden deep fried foods taste best when shared. we had a chicken mushroom crepe. we were impressed when it was served.

we had a chicken mushroom crepe. we were impressed when it was served. it was bigger than we expected. and every cut had an ample amount of chicken and mushroom. the side salad looked like christmas came early. with a handful of walnuts and dried cranberry giving a much appreciated twist to the usual boring side salads. there was also a lot of cream sauce which was a drawback since it was liberally drizzled and made parts of the crepe too soggy. i'd probably try making this order again with the sauce on the side next time.

and the desserts? we were rushing off for our musical and by the time we were done about 1030pm, the restaurant was already doing closings.

At $15.00, the portion is reasonably large and it’s good to be shared among four people. It’s sizzled with white truffle oil and seasoned with truffle sea salt and comes with a BBQ sauce and mayonnaise dip. I like Au Chocolat choice of a thick straight-cut instead of a thin one. As such, this fries were fried to a perfect crispness without losing it’s taste.

Anyone who has walked past Au Chocolat will probably have the impression that they are all about desserts and cakes. That was the same thought until I realised that they have a cafe/restaurant further down the corridor when I needed to find a place to grab an afternoon snack.I order the calamari and tiramisu which were both good in their own ways. Anyone who has walked past Au Chocolat will probably have the impression that they are all about desserts and cakes. That was the same thought until I realised that they have a cafe/restaurant further down the corridor when I needed to find a place to grab an afternoon snack.

I order the calamari and tiramisu which were both good in their own ways. One thing I always find lacking in calamari is that if the squid used isn't fresh, it destroys the whole feel of the dish. Au Chocolat's version was pretty good and the batter helped to bring out the freshness of the squid within. Overall, I felt that it was a great combination. As for the espresso tiramisu, I liked the texture of it i.e. not too wet nor dry and was very flavourful. The cute heart-shaped cookie at the edge of the cup was an added bonus.

It is not the poshest or a restaurant with the best ambience, but there’s just this feeling of superiority when you dine in here. Casual yet class. Maybe it comes naturally with that touch of French in the restaurant. Service was prompt and responsive. We were greeted by the host at the entrance and constantly reassured that a seat is about to come – patrons’ level of patience kept checked at all time.

Moccacino ($10++) :: After finishing a meal here, you would realize for sure, that coffee is not their forte, especially having been to a whole range of cafes out there in Singapore. I don’t blame them for that. This hot beverage was mediocre, don’t even bother – go for this instead:

Frozen Hot Chocolate Cup ($12++) :: Frozen and hot. Contradicting, right? I know what’s going through your head – it is indeed, an iced beverage. Please, if you don’t want to end up feeling like you’ve just finished a buffet, share it with a friend, or even two. Regardless, this is a must try – the thick and seemingly never-ending supply of chocolate is a blessing by itself. Cut some cost, share this, maybe?

Wild Mushroom Soup ($11++) :: Just by looking at the photo, it goes without saying how thick and flavorful this bowl of treasure is. The relatively generous path of truffle oil on the soup tells you that there is going to be a party in your mouth as soon as you put them in. Love the taste (not too grainy and rough), love the smell (infused with truffle oil).

Ultimate Benedict ($22++) :: Don’t be tricked – this dwarf-like portion can fill a giant. Reason? Simple. Behold what it contains – strips of bacon, chunks of chicken and beef, poached eggs and 2 thick layers of pancakes as base. I’m guessing its ultimate means ultimately filling. Save for the hard and crispy bacon, I like how the rest of the course is done. In spite of having multiple items in the course and thus being hard to complement each other, I can still taste each of them quite distinctly.

Duck Confit ($27++) :: This Duck Confit – crispy skin, somewhere in between tough and tender meat, interesting dark chocolate infused grapefruit sauce, with pear compote and mashed potato. All of which makes up a pretty competitive Duck Confit.

Go Nuts with Salted Caramel ($18++) :: If there is any flavor that might stand a chance against a face-off match with Chocolate, it is Salted Caramel, my comparably new love. From a crepe of appropriate thickness, to almonds and walnuts, to a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream (that almost doesn’t melt, with our experience), every inch of it is screaming yes! Have this savory crepe as your main course for all I care – because yes it is worth it. And well, nuts have a history of good nutritional value!

Espresso Pick Me Up ($16++) :: Another way of calling it Tiramisu, this item on the menu is the biggest disappointment of the evening. Not the least ‘addictive’, it has a weird texture and taste. Definitely not your everyday Tiramisu. Give it a miss and try their huge-ass Chocolate Cake instead.

Some hits, some misses. Notwithstanding that, I would still recommend and bring my friends to Au Chocolat. Simply because their hits much outweigh their misses.

My friend and I had wanted to order their waffles as there was a "50% off the 2nd waffles" promotion every Wednesday. However, to our disappointment, the waffles were not served at Au Chocolat bistro! We were told that the waffles were only served at Au Chocolat Confiserie which is located just next to the bistro. Thus, we decided to only the Kalamansi Meringue Tart ($9) and a Brownie ($5) to share amongst us instead in order to enjoy the comfortable seats at the bistro. The seats at the con

The seats at the confiserie side are mostly high seats and we couldn't find a table big enough to accomodate 7 pax.

I love the tart but the crust was as hard as rock. No joke! Haha... Took me quite a lot of effort to break the crust! But overall, the taste of the sweet egg whites (meringue) went well with the tangy and sourish kalamansi curd.
