Oh Fish!!

Fish and chips is almost everybody's favourite. Love the crispy exterior of the battered fish and the chrunchy and thick cut french fries. The fish and chips goes well with vinegar and pepper provided and the fish is fresh. Serving portions are just nice and the enviornment of the restaurant is nice and a good place to chill. The restaurant is like a mini canteen. Other seafood is also available and they are really good too!

Fish & Chips

I was having tea here with my sister and we ordered a Fish & Chips set ($14 for the Cod fish) to share. You just need to top up $2.90 to get a soda and a freshly baked cookie. We also ordered a Brownie to share. The fish was fried to a crisp but did not strike me as anything special - it wasn't beer battered, nor did they add any special seasoning to it. It was just simply plain ol' fish & chips. The fries were a bit thicker than those you get elsewhere which gives it a more homemade feel. Overa

 Our $5.50 Brownie came with a cup of Coffee. The coffee was quite good but the brownie wasn't great - it tasted like one of those instant brownie mix you get from the supermarket. My sister preferred the Chocolate Cookie which was soft and chewy, filled with bits of chocolate chips and nuts with every bite.

While the restaurant had a very "fisherman's fishmarket" kind of atmosphere - decorated with wooden boats, fishing nets and seafood props, the food was just pretty average. The manager who served us was also quite unresponsive and did not explain the set meal to us very clearly, resulting in us making a few trips to the drinks refrigerator to pick up another item. Good thing the restaurant was practically deserted on a Saturday afternoon so that I could have a nice quiet tea time with my sister.

My second visit to Boston Seafood Shack. We were attracted by their 1-for-1 fish&chips from 11am-6pm. Both of us ordered the snapper fish&chips. As usual, the fish serving was small compared to Mahattan or Fish&Co. There was a strong snapper fish taste for one of the two pieces which I ate. Suspected that they kept the fish too long. Similarly, all prices are inclusive of gst and service charge. So we paid $7.50nett each for our snapper fish&chips. I would suggest that the restaurant to give slightly bigger portion of the fish for the meal. If there isn't any promotion, one snapper fish&chips would cost $15. So expensive right for the kind of serving as you see in my picture!

I believe if they alter the serving portion, more people will come to try it. During my first visit, we paid $5.00 to add on oysters to our set. Guess how many pieces we were given? Only two small pieces - pathetic. With $5.00, we can get frozen oysters in the supermarket to fry it ourselves.

Read reviews of Boston Seafood Shack and decided to give it a try. A self-service joint, you are activated when the food's ready. Wait staff are friendly. The lobster bisque and clam chowder were delicious, though a tad lukewarm. Ordered the cod and chips - meat was firm and fresh. My absolute fave was the Spicy Crab Nachos - the crispy nachos drenched in oh-so-sinful cheese, topped with succulent strips of crab meat, chickpeas and the fiery jalapenos.... a combination bound to wear down one's r
