I remembered Delifrance as one of the hype cafes we go to for expensive coffee and fanciful pastries about 20 years ago– a little like the sprouting of chi-chi coffeeshops these days. Along the years with other cafes coming up with all day breakfast, weekday brunches and latte art, delifrance lost a little of its edge and even looks a little old-school these days. Well obviously, they have done some re-branding, playing up the ‘french’ factor, and recently even created a sandwich in collaboration with a Michelin 1 star chef. (Oyster sauce with mayo, anyone?)In any case, my bf recently tried done of their sandwiches and loved it as it reminded him of those in France. So here we go for our sunday late lunch.I had the BBQ chicken sandwich, which was the only one on their hot sandwich menus as the others were cold sandwiches. It was quite weird coz when it came it looks a little like a chicken stew stuffed into a sandwich. Taste was overwhelmed with BBQ sauce, and no greens in sight at all. But it wasnt so bad. You can also opt for the combo which came with soup and coffee. We had the Onion soup and Mushrooms soup, which was really not too bad. Mushroom soup was the rustic type which i loved and quite chockful of mushroom bits.My bf has the le Parisien– which had nice grilled chicken chunks, but had a very tropical taste. They had pineapple in it, and a sauce which tasted quite citrusy. Seriously, there aint much to complain about the food, price and atmosphere but somehow the taste mix of their sandwich is just not right.Hidden in Harbourfront centre away from the buzzling crowd of Vivocity, it makes a good coffee place for the lazy sunday afternoon.

Dropping by at the revamped and rebranded ARC at the foot of PSA Towers was the right decision to clear away Monday blues. A reasonable range of lunch options, some old & some new, but all dangling special opening promotions to entice the lunch crowd. I've always favoured Delifrance's crispy, buttery croissants over Subway's no nonsense baguette loaves. As part of the re-opening offer, choose your favourite bread (baguette, croissant, ciabatta, multigrain) and your favourite topping (egg mayo, chicken, seafood, tuna) to go with coffee or iced tea & soup of the day for just $8.90 this week. It had to be croissant with the creamy chicken filling for me, with a cafe au lait to complete a satisfying lunch.
