After having steamboat with a group of friends at Serangoon, we decided to head to Hatter Street to try their woahffles! This place did not disappoint me. Once we stepped into the cafe, the smell of the woahffles is overwhelming. Without much hesitation, we decided to try one of their woahffles first; the one with Pandan ice cream. It was my first time trying Pandan ice cream as I do not really fancy food related to Pandan. To my dismay, this ice cream went really well with the waffles, baked with perfection. The pandan ice cream was refreshing as I thought that it might have a really strong Pandan smell. The waffles had a crunchy bite with a chewy feel. Since 5 of us shared one plate of waffles, we felt that our stomachs were not satisfied. Therefore, we wanted to order another flavour to try. We tried to mix and match ourselves which was vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. However, the chef came to tell us that she strongly does not recommend me as this would distort the taste of the woahffles. Through this, I felt that the chef really took tremendous efforts to craft out each and every dessert and she knew the ingredients well to advise us against our idea. Thumbs up for the chef! In the end, we ordered the one with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel woahffles.

Overall, it is a great place to try waffles. However, I do feel that the portion can be bigger for the price.

The menu as imprinted on the wall. Rather simple.

The Whoaffles with Pandan Ice Cream sprinkled with Gula Melaka ($8.80) deserves to be commended. It is crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Coupled with the pandan ice cream which is hardly found elsewhere and the Gula Melaka, it gives the waffles a local touch to its taste, while tasting sweet and coconut-ish.

Being an ultimate fan of waffles, I've always wanted to check out the ones here at this cafe and am also intrigued by the decor from the pictures I saw online! The cafe is very small with limited seating and it's located just under a HDB block! There were 3 different waffle combination on the menu. Vanilla ice-cream with salted caramel, Pandan ice-cream with gula melaka and Chocolate ice-cream with chocolate sauce. I love pandan and gula melaka and to have it on waffles is pretty unique! We al

There were 3 different waffle combination on the menu. Vanilla ice-cream with salted caramel, Pandan ice-cream with gula melaka and Chocolate ice-cream with chocolate sauce. I love pandan and gula melaka and to have it on waffles is pretty unique! We all love the waffles as it was so crispy and thick inside out, which is totally my kind of waffles! This is the best I've had so far and you can also taste the pandan flavour in the ice-cream! However, the gula melaka sauce was quite bland.

We had quite a hard time choosing the cake as there was quite a variety but seeing that this was the second last slice, we thought it must be good! Another reason being that it's popcorn flavoured which is interesting as I don't usually see it at just any bakery. Anyway, it turned out just so-so only and pales in comparison to the waffles.

As we couldn't get enough of the waffles, we ordered another one and this time, we had the Vanilla Icecream w Salted Caramel sauce
My friends find the caramel sauce sweet but I prefer it to the gula melaka sauce. However for the icecream, pandan still wins! Their whoa'ffles is really whoaaaaa and it's a must must order!!

Smoked Sawdust Pudding ($5.00) is a recreation of a popular Macau dessert. Presented in the jar are crumbs and pudding, which also came with a smoky scent. The pudding was pretty creme brulee-like with a custardy texture which tasted eggy, while the crumbs were rubbly and dusty for some bite. This dessert would however not suit the palates for some; the smoky scent resembles the smell of joss sticks and hence would not appeal to all. We thought it was interesting, but it would have been better if there was more pudding as we found ourselves scooping on crumbs near the end.

From it’s name, the Whoaffles ($8.90) were sounding to be really impressive. We got ourselves the one with Pandan ice-cream with Gula Melaka. We loved the crispy batter but it was lacking on the eggy flavour. The Pandan flavour was evident and aromatic in the ice-cream, while the Gula Melaka was subtle on sweetness. A lot of the Gula Melaka was used for its plating and presentation however, which made the Whoaffle fall a bit short on flavour as there was not much of it drizzled atop the Whoaffle as a result.

It’s So Kumquat ($6.00) is the quirky nickname of the Kumquat Tart sold here, which is in line with Chinese New Year coming round the corner. Meant to be similar to a Lemon Meringue Tart, it was however slightly sweeter with a tint of citrus. We also loved the meringue which was cloudy and fluffy despite being torched and the eggy tart base held up its shape rather well. This was widely-agreed to be the best item we had for the visit.

Vanilla Caramel Dream ($3.20) was an interesting cup of tea. It had a very aromatic scent of Vanilla, but tasted lightly so with tea still being more dominant. It was also not sweet at all despite the caramel.
