Char kway tiao $3.80. The portion was just right for the price of $3.80. The taste was disappointing and fell below average. It was quite oily and there was a lack of aroma and no wok's taste even though it was fried in a wok. It was also rather oily. The texture was moist enough though (probably due to the oil). I'll rate it a 4.5/10. 繼續閱讀

Hoe Kee Hokkien Mee is located at one corner adjacent to the famous You Kee braised duck stall in Koufu of Westmall. Hoe Kee still adopting the use of opal leaf at the bottom of its Hokkien Mee which partially explained its a traditional plate of Hokkien Mee. Not only that, it is quite hard to find Hokkien Mee with the leaf as a base nowadays. It took a while to got hold of the plate of noodles as everyone was waiting for the stall helper done up with cooking the batch of Hokkien Mee. If there were more incoming orders, many times, the helper were seen adding more noodles to what was in the wok and those who were earlier in queues had to wait a little longer. It was unusually priced at $4.30 not the usual rounding off to the nearest $0.50. The taste was pretty average to me but one thing I like about it was its chilli, it was spicy and "shiok" enough. In summary, I would prefer the plate of noodles to be a little wetter and packed with strong prawn broth but not cloying. Cost: $4.30 繼續閱讀

Hoe kee hokkien mee offers a wide range of local delicacies like carrot cake, hokkien mee, oyster egg etc.Tried their hokkien mee this time round, the mee was served with opeh leaf at the bottom.Their hokkien mee tasted normal, prawns were fresh. After mixing in the chilli, the hokkien mee was spicy for me.So for those people who can't take spicy food, request for less chilli! 繼續閱讀

I haven't had Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle for a long time, so while I was at West Mall food court, I began queuing up for it. They were wearing the straw hats, and there was those ubiquitous certificate for food. While queuing, I can feel the heat from the glass separating us from the frying activity. It was immerse, indicating there was continual frying for a long time. Good business. I think I can say it's just nice for my taste. Tangy, and yet there was some gravy from the noodle, the dish was not dry and was yummy. Three prawns decorated the top - they should add more. Some stalls would over cook, but not this - no hint of over burn. Okay, I tried to be critical but can't find any fault. I just ate and ate. Before I knew it, it was gone. Oh, the sambal is rather spicy. Summary: they have done it right, and there is quality maintained despite the large turnover. If you stay in around Bt Batok and want a quick fix, go no further. Is it the best around? Not sure, but it's good enough for me. Tell me where can I find the best !(They also sell others like Fried Guo Tiao. I be checking it out soon.) 繼續閱讀
