My friends wanted to try this place at Orchard Central because it looks quite fancy and we didn't want to have dessert at any places we tried before, so we headed in here for a look. We ordered their lava cake to share and boy their presentation is really nice! They have 2 sauce to accompany the cake - a tart raspberry sauce and the other is like some vanilla lemon sauce. There is a scoop of lovely chocolate ice cream too! The chocolate lava cake is nice, rich and slightly bitter with dark chocolate. I love it with the ice cream alone, no need for the sauce for me. But since it is quite gelat, some drops of raspberry sauce works well. 繼續閱讀

Finally! After taking a few quick shots, I started my indulgence! I ate the nut and the small piece of black garlic first. Asit was not my first time eating black garlic, I enjoyed the taste and the very mild sweet aftertaste. I tried controllingmyself to scope my Korean black garlic ice cream bit by bit to slowly enjoy the sweetness, but ended up finishing it in 2mouth. My excuse was that it was seriously a small scope and ice cream do not taste nice when melted.The next victim was this chocolate cake. I started off by stripping of its pieces of flakes around it, making it looked rathernaked (not that I am sicked). Luckily the layers of chocolate cream within were thin as I detest cream. The cake wasneither too bitter nor sweet and it was a well balance of the two. Next to go into my stomach was the black palm island salt macaroon. It looked so pure (maybe because it was white) and innocent, not knowing that I would torture it bite by bite (sadist thinking). I loved the strong almond taste and the salted egg filling inside which surprised me. I found the combination really special and satisfying. After seeing 3 of its other buddies from the same plate entering me, the red ruby (raspberry ganache paired with dark chocolate) was helpless. It was shaped to such perfection that it felt more like a decoration than a chocolate. It was even airbrushed to add on its appeal. A bite and I felt the raspberry taste, although the taste was a little faint. Last but not least, the set came with a pot of tea of my choice too. I decided to drink something fruity and picked passion fruit tea. The tea was fragrant and could fill about 3 and a half cup at least. 繼續閱讀

Today, I have an opportunity to taste this colorful Asian Twist macaroons which original is a traditional French almond pastry once reserved for royalty. I learn that macaroons, is a small round biscuit made by egg white and the chef provides eight Asian Twist flavors macaroons. After eating the flavors of Green Tea, Raspberry Passion Fruit, Black Palm Island & Butterfly Pea Bloom, I have a palate teasing experience with an assortment of exotic flavors with subtle sweetness. It taste is fantastic good that overpowering my taste buds. I will surely taste the rest of the flavors in the future. 繼續閱讀

Or at least I did. Located right beside the (main entrance) escalator of Orchard Central on Level 2, Jewels Artisan Chocolate is, well, quite a jewel I must say. If you’re up for some indulgence on orgasmic desserts, I think this place will not disappoint.Macarons ($2.00+) :: Just look at that. It is inevitable that I have become even more a Macaron-lover. I savored the delectable ‘Simply Dark‘ (basically with Dark Chocolate), the ‘Black Palm Island Salt‘ (with salted egg – yeah interesting xD and almond cream) and ‘Brun‘ (hazelnut’s). If you only wish to spend on one, I’d say, go for the former, hands down. Every bite makes you fly (and for your information, that makes it even more powerful than Red Bull), every bit of dark chocolate that melts in your mouth makes you die a little inside. Okay, I should stop here, maybe a little too exaggerating. Hah.Dark Lava Chocolate Cake with Ice Cream ($10.80++) :: For this warm, volcanic lava chocolate cake, we had it with Gianduja Hazelnut Ice Cream (well you can pick any from the 4 choices). It comes with some berry / plum sauce & vanilla essence thingymabob (the 2 spoons behind). I thought the latter went pretty well with the cake. What we did was, had a bite at the authentic, pure organic cake first, and then poured in the sauces. This won the award of the ‘Best Dessert of the Day’ – we agreed in unison. I mean, just look at the chocolate oozing out from the sliced up cake. Oohhh.Chocolate Mousse in Verrine ($10.80++) :: Before anything – look at that adorable mini macaron that topped the dessert! Sandwiched in between it are some crunchy chocolate pearls. I stole it and put it into my mouth. I mean macarons, it’s worth committing a small crime. The mousse (that looks like ice cream) tastes surprisingly good. It may be a little tasteless at first, but as you go on, it’s actually there. There’re some small toppings here and there – chocolates cubes, that aforementioned plum / berry sauce at the bottom, and some crunchy chocolate pearls. Overall it’s pretty enjoyable too, but just, share it with your friends. You’d be too overwhelmed if you even try to finish the whole verrine.Chocolate Gateau with Ice Cream ($10.80++) :: It is just, an art piece (and hence Jewels ARTisan Chocolate, I guess). There is this contradicting feeling of ‘I can’t bring myself to destroy the artwork’ + ‘I need to dig in now’ when it was first served. Unfortunately, this particular dessert dish didn’t live up to the standard of its peers. The cake was on the hard and dry side. So I’d suggest, if you want to, have it with the ice cream to make it taste better. We had 66% Alpaco Dark Chocolate Ice Cream to accompany the cake. That, together with the (I think it is) caramelized cookie, is, ooolala. Salty, sweet, just pure awesomeness and fulfillment. But yes, if you have a choice, give this a miss, it won’t hurt.I have no qualms about going back there anytime soon.—> Note #1: It is not that suitable a place for big groups. Tables are separated into tables of 3 in general (of course, you can combine the tables and chairs to make up the numbers if needed), and it’s quite a small 40-odd-diners cafe.—> Note #2: Service is very good last time I checked. If you need any help at all (maybe some recommendations), approach the friendly staff. 繼續閱讀

Having good macarons really perks up my day and makes me very happy.Nice setting with comfy couches. Not much seating though. Nice polite friendly efficient service. Actually rather like their service!Tried the Raspberry macarons and found them to be very tasty. Right amount of sweetness and flavour. However, the shells are too fragile, unlike Darcis' which are very sturdy. The filling is good but Darcis' is still better.Did not like the price which included ++. Darcis has NO ++, Freshly Baked by le Bijoux has NO ++. Why JA has ++?The size of the macarons here are smaller than Darcis' and Freshly Baked.Overall, it tasted very good and I would rate it 3rd place after Darcis' (1st place) and Freshly Baked (2nd place) for macarons in Singapore.Places like Obolo and Bakerzin, etc all failed in macarons so far. Will be trying GOBI again soon to see if they've improved.A lower price here will see it get better recommendations. 繼續閱讀
