Established in 1985, over 30 years ago (!), Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant is among the oldest restaurants in Singapore. Located in the equally aging Furama Riverfront Singapore Hotel, Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant is known for its Halal Indonesian buffet, with their speciality being Balinese cuisine. Their consistently decent food, friendly service staff, and decent prices, has seen to the longevity of Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant, and it's still popular for large scale, Halal buffet meals.

Ambience at Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant is possibly it's weakest point. The spacious but dimly lit interior shows signs of age, though the solid wooden furniture is still sturdy after all these years. Decor is traditional Balinese, ranging from the iconic gate guardians / Balinese gate at the entrance, to the ornate carvings amongst the buffet spread, to the traditional kitchen utensils on the walls. While clean, I dislike the really dark, low ambient lighting.

Service at Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant is friendly and efficient. Staff will offer greetings when you enter / exit, and seat diners promptly. Very efficient at clearing away empty / dirty plates, always an important thing in a buffet. Note that they're quite polite, enquiring if you're done before clearing. Food is also regularly topped-up, so the food trays always look full, sufficient for all. However, not all staff can properly answer queries regarding each dish, and ingredients within.

Food at Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant is Halal, with their focus being Indonesian / Balinese cuisine. The food in Bali, Indonesia, is noted for its savoury grilled meats and use of spices, in particular, the 8-spice mixture known as Bumbu. These are all present here, prepared by Chef I Gusti Nyoman Kaler and team. Dishes are generally tasty, heavy on flavourful sauces. Prices are reflective of a typical buffet, budget about SGD $50 per person for a meal here.

The Beef Rendang is tender and moist, with good savoury meat flavour. But the highlight is the deliciously yummy rendang sauce, which has a good kick of spices and heat. Highly recommended!

Loved the Lupis here, which is a steamed glutinous rice cake, garnished with dessicated coconut and sweet gula melaka / palm sugar. Really good, I actually found myself eating it on its own, almost like a dessert! Highly recommended!

The Satay Chicken & Beef here was the highlight of the entire buffet meal. The savoury, perfectly grilled skewers of meat are tender and tasty. People just kept going back for more of these, and it's actually worth to dine here just for these meat skewers! The satay sauce is inconsistent, early on, it's thick, rich and nutty. But after a few rounds, you can tell the kitchen is struggling to keep up with demand, because the satay sauce gets thinner and thinner, and later in the night, the consistency is watery. My suggestion is to go early enough so you get the best satay! Highly recommended!

I was invited for a buffet lunch with my fellow customers in this popular Indonesian restaurant.   The restaurant environment is very cosy and comfortable, with many wooden decorations around it.  Enjoyed the cold prawns which are fresh and chewy.  Also the must try will be their different types of kueh kuehs which are very fresh and chewy, and also not too sweet.  The durian paste is also thick and creamy, which is definitely suitable for those who enjoy durian.  For less than $40 per person, i

Decided to try something different in a while, so met up with friends to check out this indonesian buffet place. The ambient of this place is very old school, some people may not like it but has cosy feeling. The staff are helpful. The cost is well justified if you have uob credit. The food is pretty average but has some unique indonesian desserts/kueh kueh. Overall experience was okay. Not something I’ll be crazy about.

Kintamani offers a buffet spread or ala carte dining. The buffet usually costs $45 per pax but if you have a UOB credit card, the buffet morphs into a much more value-for-money meal at only $30 per person. The buffet isn't very extensive but what they lack in variety, they make up for it in above-average quality. There are about 6 hot food stations, a dessert corner with Malay kuehs and ice-cream, a salad, gado-gado, and soto ayam soup station and a make-your-own-noodle station as well. All relatively decent.

Unfortunately i couldn't find anywhere since there is no menu about the history of the restaurant or whats so special about its styling etc. Anyway the restaurant also has a section which they can use to cater for wedding functions with two chairs positioned strategically at one well decorated corner, typical of the malay styled wedding. Back to the food, i'm not a food critic but its the typical nasi padang fare. Some of the dishes i like include the meatball bakso soup, the fried dory fish, the gad gado with warm peanut sauce, the tapioca crackers, the different chilli offered and also the fresh prawns (udang). The dessert section is also worth mentioning as you get to taste lots of kuehs, cake and fruits. They also have durian pengat, grass jelly and goreng pisang served. Overall if you are paying 1 for 1 for this place i think its still worth the visit but it may not be good enough to entice me to go back again, especially if i have to pay full price. Despite many online reviews rating it as bad, i would give it a pass. Also i notice, several maly/indonesian families dining here which perhaps speaks of its reputation of a decent halal buffet place.

Furama's variety of desserts are really tasty. They have a wide range of desserts. From nonya kueh to brownies and ice cream. The brownies are my favourite. It is very chocolaty and soft. I always pour chocolate syrup on top so that it would be extra chocolaty. I also tried the crepe. There was chocolate syrup on top. It was soft and taste a little bit like appam. Something different. The agar agar is very sweet and tasty. The cakes are also very nice.

The Square @ Furama Tel: 6739 6468

1-for-1 buffet lunch and dinner.

Valid till 30 Nov 2011. Maximum 8 diners per card per bill.

We would like to get to enjoy good food for celebrating my girlfriend's birthday, so we went.

Kintamani was a superb with a very fantastic range of buffet items. A great taste of local malay cuisine with indonesian influences.

If you are really hungry, I would recommend that you opt for the buffet instead of eating your fill.

I realised that this is value for money due to a wide variety of my favourites on indonesian cuisine, I am sure you are pretty much appreciated a decent meal and indulge in authentic Halal Indonesian cuisine at Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant.

After all, if you are looking for a place to relish lip-smacking and authentic Indonesian cuisine, you will then head down to Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant with your Indonesian clients because they do not have to travel to Bali and are worth visiting.
