I got a box of 8@$10. This includes 2 original, red bean, peanut, grass jelly, ginkgo and Logan. I call the shop to reserve a box because I heard that it runs out very fast and I don't want to make a wasted trip. I really like the filling,it is so smooth and soft. However,I did find that the crust is a bit too thick for my liking It would be better if the crust is thinner and the filling can also be sweeter.

As I am in the area to attend a dance class, I decide to drop by to get a box of beancurd tart for the family. The shop is in the middle of a row of shophouses, with full newspaper cutouts decorating the places. The staff tells me to call up for the bean curd tart as it is usually sold out, while getting the tart from the fridge. I am thinking to myself, that he is very long winded for such a yound man some more. For a box of eight tarts, it costs $8.00. The filling tastes like bean curd dessert which is quite smooth but the tart crust tastes a bit dry. Seems to me it is like an overhypered item.

Visit: http://dairycream.blogspot.jp/2014/01/le-cafe-confectionery-pastry-singapore.html for full post and picsI did not imagine the shop to look so modern, unlike the old-school pastries that they sell. It is not like a bakery shop where you take a tong and think what you want to have for breakfast the next day. Most items are kept in the chiller behind the cashier table. However, there is a display cupboard showing the available items so if you want a box of assorted slice cakes, you have to ask the lady. I grabbed one of the pre-packed goodie ($3.50) whose appearance and name perked my curiosity. "A Classic Treat from the 1960s" This colorful retro-looking scones eh no....rock buns are sweetened naturally with the assorted dried fruits. Rest assure that these rocks won't break your teeth as you pluck of morsels and toss them unstoppable into your mouth. And tada....the legendary Beancurd tart. Without the eggy custard smell, they are still wobbly and better than having just tau hway. These are delightfully crumbly and butter, like those from Chin Mee Chin. Shaped like a deep-dish ramekin, one is enough to fill an average stomach after dinner. I feel sorry for egg tarts now because beancurd tarts beat them hands-down. ($9 for a box of 8) Though assorted flavours sound exciting, they really aren't because they taste the same, for instance peanuts is just a few steamed peanuts tossed into the filling. Not peanut butter. Same goes for the longan, grass jelly, ginko nuts and white fungus, red bean, egg white. Come to think of it, other countries have tau hway but i think Singapore is the only place with Beancurd Tarts. Another great reason to stay here Visit: http://dairycream.blogspot.jp for full post and pics

As Chinese New Year is approaching, I decided to head down to Le Cafe to buy their famous pineapple tarts! They are so famous for it that people actually start placing their orders as early as November last year! They are also famous for their beancurd tarts which I wrote about it previously. The pineapple tarts are big and shaped like a golfball! The amount of their homemade pineapple filling is just too good and each bite is heaven! Be sure to go down early as they are usually sold out by noon! I only managed to buy a few boxes of their remaining 10pcs/box.

Le Cafe's pineapple tarts are always a must have in my house. This year, I ordered early and collected it last week. The pineapple tarts are named as golf ball pineapple tarts due to its large size, and each container only has around 10 pineapple tarts. The tarts are generously filled with the sweet pineapple paste and the external pastry just crumbles in your mouth as you eat it. The pineapple paste is really moist and sticky and sweeter than normal pineapple tart fillings. I normally share one with someone else as it is too sinful to eat the whole piece by myself and I think half is just right to satisfy my cravings for it.
