This is a sze chuan salad concept, unique and one of its kind in Singapore so far. There are many selections of different ingredients at the salad bar. I usually go with the 300g option, so I can choose whatever ingredients I want with no restrictions on the number of types although there's additional charge for meats, as long as it's 300g in total. After getting all the ingredients, they would toss my salad with sze chuan condiments, like 'ma la' chilli, sesame oil, vinegar, etc. Here are some of my favourite ingredients - they are not just any normal salad ingredients. I especially love the oyster mushrooms, seaweed, and lotus, tossed in lots of vinegar. I usually request for no 'ma la' chilli because I'm not a big fan of it.I hate it that this is so addictive; I ate it everyday at one period, and had to go out of my way to buy it when I had cravings for it. 繼續閱讀

I was at Tiong Bahru Plaza after doing an NS checkup for over four hours. I was so hungry that I was there to search for what to eat. Then, I came across this stall selling Sichuan food. It was the only stall of such kind in Singapore. Sounds special, so I went in to take a look. There are many kinds of meats, vegetables and other foodstuffs for making Sichuan salad on display inside the stall. I ordered the braised meat rice set meal the stall sells. The dish is served in a paper box like Taiwanese bento. The caixin and the slice of hard-boiled egg is beside the rice. The meat and the raw vegetables are on top of the rice. The rice is drenched in red savoury braised meat gravy. The pieces of lotus root are crunchy, juicy, sweet and refreshing. The kombu is springy. The raw vegetables add a bit of spiciness to the dish. The braised meat comes in bite-sized pieces and are chewy. The caixin is soft yet a bit crunchy. The egg is bouncy and adds flavour to the dish. The only thing I do not like is the rice. While most of it is soft and moist, some rice grains are a bit hard and dry. The set meal also has a cup of iced lemon tea in case the dish is so hot.Well, I am quite fine with the braised meat rice but I like the raw veggies so much. I do not mind coming for Sichuan salad next time I make a tour to this stall. 繼續閱讀

I've been hearing great reviews of szechuanese liang pan, but never knew quite where to get it in Singapore. So when I heard that the Chongqing Grilled Fish people were exploring this venture, I had to head down to Tiong Bahra plaza, for a taste. Not only was it tasty, it had the required kick (I love spicy!). The meats are fantastic (you get to choose from a variety), and mix it with whatever cold vegetables/salad. I would personally recommend pig's ears, pork belly, lotus roots, goundnuts, potato, the kimchStill eating my way through the different varieties, and its been an adventure! Since its opening, I have had a tube of selection every alter 繼續閱讀
