Being a ultimate fan of lor mee, I've heard many good reviews of this stall at the Hainanese Village food market! Coincidentally, it is located near to one of my good friend's house! We went there for lunch and the lor mee stall is really popular with a long queue! However, after 10 minutes of waiting, I began to wonder if the long queue is due to the slow service or that it is really popoular. Anyway, after around 20 minutes, I got my bowl of lor mee which consist of the yellow thick noodles, ngor hiang, pork belly, bean sprouts, fishcakes and an egg. I was disappointed with the amount of ingredients and the thin gravy. It also did not come with any fried fish/nuggets/fritters.

The star of the lor mee lies with the gravy. The richness, stickiness, seasoning and tastefulness are most prominent factors to define a good, average or bad of the lor mee. Of course, the toppings make up the other portion of the impression. Lorong Ah Soo Lor mee did not come with crispy fritters or crunchy fried fish which is quite a disappointment; it was just like eating a plate of chicken rice without the chicken meat. Besides the ordinary braised egg and shredded lean meat, the Ngor Hiang was not outstanding and nothing worth to mention. The gravy was heavy on the sal,t making the gravy a little too salty for our liking, though the gravy was starchy thick and rich in texture. The overall taste was lacking of the much needed characteristic of a good “Lor” or gravy. Refer our full review @ www.ieatandeat.com

The FoodI ordered a bowl of lor mee which comes with wide variety of ingredients like ngor hiang, fried wanton, fish cake, braised duck and braised egg. The delicious gravy is savory and blends well with the noodles but not overly sticky or starchy. I was impressed by the fried wanton which were filled with abundant crunchy chestnut. The shredded braised duck serves as a healthier alternative to the usual braised fatty meat. I am delighted that this lor mee comes with one whole braised egg which I usually save for the last. The PriceReasonably priced at $3 per bowlOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this!

The last time i tried this stall was more than a year ago. Ordered the $3 version without vinegar. As usual need to queue around 10-15 min and its self service at this stall. Though i did not find the gravy as flavorful as the bt purmei version, i find that it is full of ingredients like shredded lor bak, ngor hiong, beansprout and fishcake. Usually for $3 version you definitely get more noodles than the accompanying goodies but seems like this stall is generous with that. Although i say its not as flavorful i do like the fact that its not too gluey and is easy to eat. Will recommend lor mee fans to try this out for sure.

I went to this stall for breakfast and was met with a long queue. Since I am already there, I just went ahead and queue and luckily, the queue moved quite fast. I ordered the lor mee which comes with a thick gravy with ingredients like the fishcake, crispy fried stuff, wu xiang etc. I also requested for more vinegar to give it more kick. The ingredients are quite little since there is only a few pieces. However, I love the gravy, it is thick and not too starchy and the vinegar does help in lifting the taste of the lor mee. However, because of its pathetic ingredients, I am not sure if I will be back.
