PS.Cafe at Palais Renaissance

This time round, i brought a friend here to PS cafe as she wanted to dine in at restaurant with nice ambience in town and the first place that i thought of is PS cafe. We ordered Iced Chocolate ( SGD $6.50++) and shared. The chocolate is thick and nice. However we find it a bit pricey for just a normal drink like this.My Main - lulu's leftover lasagne, which consists of layered ground beef lasgne topped with vegetables, spicy caramelized meatballs, penne pasta with chunky tomato sauce and cheese. I find it rather average and it gets abit too sticky when the dish turns cold. Also i couldn't finish it as halfway through i feel sick after eating it. Probably it is due to the cheese. There are many levels of food — Junk, exquisite, comfort. At times, they meet to form a phenomenal collaboration for a calorie party. I’m talking about Truffle Shoestring Fries & PS. Chicken In A Basket from PS. Cafe.We were in town getting shoved around by the Orchard crowd like a carom being flicked when we had the profoundest cravings for a good ol’ mountain of truffle fries. There was no need for a lengthy discussion about our destination, for there’s only one place we’d claw our way to get our much needed fix.Of the three times I’ve had the heap of truffle fries arrive at my table, there wasn’t once when my eyes didn’t twinkle on behalf of my nose. Some people reckon truffle oil smells like gasoline while tasting like garlic. I would agree on the latter and love it all the same and unless heaven smells like gasoline, I think I may be on a different page about that.Each time I order it, I forget how big the serving really is. You’d need four stomachs to clean the entire plate (Here’s where being a cow comes in handy.) so it’s a tremendously good portion for sharing.While I think the price tag on the Chicken In A Basket is quite hefty, it certainly does pack up a punch in flavour, armed with hypnotic powers to convince you that the $26 is incredibly worth it.…查看更多

Always wanted to come to PS cafe as it looks like a place with very nice ambience, very suitable for couple to dine in together. love the surroundings. they are so pretty to me. truffle fries (SGD $15++)i love truffle fries! the truffle oil make the fries taste so good. Personally, i feel They serve one of the best truffle fries in singapore. (the best one is Au chocolat)Chicken in a Basket (SGD $26++)A pretty decent dish, with lightly breaded chicken tenders, fries, veggie sticks and 2 different type of sauces. The fried chicken is good, very crispy and tasty. However, i find this too expensive for just chicken tenders and fries. Overall, this restaurant has very good ambience. It has been a long time since I meet up with my this group of poly friends and so today we are meeting for lunch/high tea at PS café.We ordered this PS chicken in the basket to share, we all feel that this is quite nice, thou it's deep fried but the chicken pieces are tender and well marinated.King prawn aglio olio, quite ok with huge prawns and the pasta is quite tasty.Miso cod, I did not try this dish but no complains from my friends and so I think should be ok.…查看更多

I couldn't resist my curiosity to find out what "The Green Goddess" pesto pasta ($26) would look like and so I decided to order it for lunch! As its name implies, it is truly the goddess of pesto pastas. Chock full of greens including broccoli, long beans and peas all tossed up in a bright green basil pesto sauce. Mmmm mmmm.. add on some slices of cheddar cheese and a generous serving of pine nuts, this pasta truly becomes a "goddess" for all vegetarians! My only gripe would be the amount of olive oil they use for the sauce - especially when I reached the base of my plate, the pasta was literally soaking in a pool of olive oil. Sure, they say olive oil is good for you but even too much of a good thing ain't gonna cut it. PS Cafe is one of those places that keep appearing on my social media newsfeed! I knew I had to go check it out one day for myself to quell that curiosity in my heart. I liked the quiet, classy European al fresco dining area a lot, especially the tall ceiling! A whole tree was in there. It is really quite interesting and special because it is on the second floor instead of the first floor. Not much of a view though, it is just some sort of a back alley. There is also the air-conditioned area if you don't like al fresco dining.PS. Caesar Salad with Rosemary-Honey Dijon Chicken - $26++ was what I ordered... I always prefer to find positive points to write about the food I eat ... but for this, I am quite at a loss on what to write. Disclaimer: I don't normally like salads but I thought that with this price, it should be a good platform from which I can start liking salads. Big mistake to associate proportional increment between price and the tastiness of food.I just remembered chewing the vegetables till the sides of my mouth ached (I was barely one-third done with them) and then I thought the chicken would be better, so I switched to eating the chicken. It was a single kebab sort of chicken which actually costs an additional $4++. The only adjectives I can think of are: dry, tough, hard, and tasteless. Not worth it at all. It wasn't marinated well at all, if it was even marinated. I made it through about three-quarters of the meat and I gave up. My teeth were worn out trying to tear the meat down. There were also croutons and small barbecue meat pieces thrown around the salad, and they were equally tough to bite. You can expect me to still feel hungry at the end of this - I feel like I spent more calories trying to eat this salad up then gaining anything. The only good thing about this is the egg, which was well, chew-able. Let's not talk about the flavours and the intricacies of the dish at all - if I don't feel comfortable eating this, then it's a goner. Not sure if it's a one-off bad performance or not, but either way I'm not coming back to this overrated place... even if the ambience and service is admittedly enjoyable. *Maybe* other dishes are better. At the very least, you are advised against ordering the PS Caesar Salad.They have flavoured iced water - it was apple iced water that day even though you can't really tell from here.…查看更多

Went for brunch with a few friends at PS Cafe Palais over the weekend as 1 of them just came back from US after being away for 1.5 years. Nice environment with a little outdoor feel & setting. Staffs were friendly & knowledgeable on their products & well versed to give recommendations. 3 of us ordered PS Big Bacon & Eggs and had our eggs done with just the egg whites as suggested by the server, which I personally find it taste rather bland. Bacon is super crispy which I like it a lot. I opt for Chorizo (pork) instead of beef sausage. We all agree that the loaf is slightly over-toasted at the side & a tad too chewy in the middle, thus making it difficult to cut with the knife. PS Cafe at Palais Renaissance is much like their other outlet at Dempsey Road which has an alfresco area. Went there with three of my friends for lunch and this was what I had!Croque Monsieur. Basically it's just sandwich with ham and gruyere cheese. The last time I had this was so long ago at another restaurant and I didn't had a good impression. This was so much better, the toast was toasted to a perfect crisp and the cheese was warm and oozy. It almost feels like I’m on a holiday in Europe, but in reality, I’ve wandered into PS.Cafe at Palais Renaissance. Perhaps it’s the high ceiling, chic decor and palm trees that makes me feel like I’ve been transported to a different country.For a weekday lunch the place was pretty packed, mainly with expatriates – a couple of Japanese ladies seated to our left and another group of westerners to our right. Lots of idle chatter and a fragrant whiff of freshly brewed coffee fills the air. We ordered 2 mains to share – a Steak Sandwich ($36) and Chicken in a Basket ($28).Served on thick slices of char-grilled sourdough bread, you can see the steak glistening in the light just waiting for you to sink your fangs into its juicy, slightly pinkish meat. For those of you self-acclaimed meat lovers, the steak is a 400-day grain fed striploin. I’m just glad the cow got to live for over a year before it entered the slaughterhouse. =DThese are one of the most gorgeous looking fries I’ve seen and even its name is pretty too – Sesame & Nori Shoestring Fries. Served together with the steak sandwich, the fries seemed to be a little bit on the bland side, but I like it that way. It feels somewhat.. healthier, I guess. =P But you also have that tangy mayo dip which is oh-so-sinfully-good.You can’t really go wrong with fried foods, as long as the ingredients are fresh and the temperature is right. I find the Chicken in a Basket pretty “standard fare”. Sure enough, the chicken was chunky and juicy (not dry at all) and the mayonnaise dip that comes with it is rather good too. It also comes with slightly thicker wedges instead of fries and some veggie sticks.Sadly, it was time for me to bid farewell to my holiday in Europe and jump back into reality once again – time always seems to speed up when you’re on holiday. Overall, PS.Cafe is a great place to dine in style and quiet elegance. PS Cafe is one of my favorite venue regardless i'm going for a meal or just for cakes & tea =) When it comes to cakes, i will always order the Key Lime Pie (green in color). For my recent trip, it was not available and i saw this on display (refer to picture - yellow one but i forgot the name of it).Decided to give it a try and it was pretty good too. Sour, refreshing! Cafe and its truffle fries, we decided to visit it during teatime on a weekend. As you can see from the photos, P.S. Cafe at Renaissance has high ceilings and drawdown windows. The whole ambience is consistent to its theme from flooring to furniture. As you step into the restaurant, you will be invited by a row of cakes on display. The display of cakes totally whet our appetites and make us want to try every cake that is on sale.The highlight was the Shoestring Truffle Fries ($15). Being a huge fan of truffle fries, we were delighted to see a huge pile of fries atop the plate. It is best eaten immediately after it's served. The fries are golden brown and topped with cheese. I would prefer a little more cheese with it though. The truffle taste is not consistent throughout the whole dish as some parts had more truffle oil while others were rather bland. This is recommended for sharing! Not the best we tasted, but, reasonably priced we feel.Sticky Lemon and Chewy Florentine Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream (about $10) was our choice for cake. The lemon flavor we felt, was not very strong. The sticky walnut and some preserved fruits was sweet and thus went well with the cake. The vanilla ice-cream accompanied the cake well. For those who want to try something different from P.S. Cafe, this cake would be a good choice! It goes well with some coffee and tea.Overall, we really enjoyed the time in P.S. Cafe as we could really enjoy our teatime amidst a fairly nice and peaceful ambience. I guess when there's a crowd, the ambience might be different. Crab Tart. It has a very refreshing taste. The crust is good. However if you would to finish it all by yourself, you may get sick of it like I did. Rustic steak w mushroom stew:not a must try, it is average in my opinion.Double Chocolate Blackout Cake:This is the most famous cake in PS cafe and also the most chocolatified (if there's even such a word) cake I've ever tried. Made with many layers of different texture of chocolates with a thick topping of chocolate sauce, it is the perfect cake for die hard fans of chocolate cakes. Not to be missed! And a very delicious way to do so.Truffle oil wild mushroom soup.A big pot of yum.Generous bits of mushroom redolent in every bite.I really didn't bother much about the sandwich on the side till I needed some bread to mop up the remaining drops of soup.This was literally an EAT your soup kinda dish.And not to say the sandwich was lack lustre.A turkey cranberry sandwich.Fruity cranberry sauce and succulent pieces of turkey filled toasty bread.Thanks for the birthday treat. …查看更多

I had their finger food meal. Club sandwich! Love the stacked up triangular sandwich with ham and cheese and egg. It was delicious but serving was too huge for one! Do share them! It wasn't too bad or too nice. Just normal sandwich bite. As for drinks, I had this oreo milk shake. Just like the other milkshakes, it is sweet and ice cream like.
