Sophie has always been one of my favourite bakery shop to to grab some pastries and sandwiches. This time I have bought the Ciabatta Mozzarella & Pesto sandwich ($6.90) which the portion is huge and really look tempting. The sandwich buns are filled with different types of spicies fragrant and the bun is firm and moist. Lots of crunchy lettuces, soft cheese and fresh tomatoes are filled inside this sandwich which is very nutritional. The shop is spacious and clean and service is warm and friendly. 繼續閱讀

My colleague introduced this bakery to my other colleague who then introduced the delectable breads from this shop. Sophie Bakery is modelled after a little European shop with dainty displays of tarts, slices of cakes, breads (focaccia and baguettes). Sometimes they also have bite sized samples of loaves of breads which you can eat to your heart's delight (provided you don't have a guilty conscience eating one too many). The shop's interior and exterior is all decked for Christmas. Inside, there is a small train display running on the counter. Very charming.Anyway i was talking about this White Chocolate Chip bun ($1.90). Its not expensive and yet its very filling. Do not belittle it by its exterior. The bread is very dense, filled with bits of white chocolate chips. Besides the crunchiness of the chocolate chips, the strong hint of white chocolate in the bun adds to the overall taste of the bread. Thumbs up for this bread!I have not really tried their other items except the bread and their Cranberry Cookie. The cookie, like the bun, has a light but its-there Cranberry flavour. It crumbles the way a cookie crumbles too. 繼續閱讀

Sophie bakery is one of the many french bakeries that has came to our little island. I feel that it is also one of the cheaper french bakery compared to many others. I particularly like their fruit tarts which comes in a handful of flavours such as longan, peach and strawberry. Do note that ll of the fruit tarts have the same base, just different fruit toppings. One this particular day, i chose the peach tart ($5). Half a neatly sliced peach was placed in top of their delicious tart base that features a light fragipane cream in a crispy, buttery tart shell. There was only a small dollop of custard cream to hold the peach on top of the tart base, making it a good choice for people who do not like creamy stuff. 繼續閱讀

I wasn’t disappointed with the tarts which were heavily packed with fillings! My favorite has to be the lemon meringue tart which were refreshingly tarty sour. It is the perfect dessert to end off a heavy meal. I didn’t manage to get a taste of the chocolate tart, but reviews have told me that the dark chocolate ganache was satisfyingly good. The strawberry tart isn’t too bad, but it is definitely muted against the other two. With prices lower and quality on par with Carpenter & Cook, I see myself grabbing more of these lovely tarts at Sophie Bakery in future. Located in various central locations, it is much more convenient to grab some home. There are much more flavors of tarts available, especially in fruity flavors. The peach tart will probably be next on my hit list!Read more food reviews on RoundTumTums.com! 繼續閱讀

As it is close to closing time, there is 2 for 1 promotion store wide, which means for every 3 items you buy, the lowest priced will be free.Apple Danish ($2.90)Buttery dough with diced apple. Refrigerated in a container keep till next day.Peach Danish ($2.90)Sweet buttery dough. Half peach filling. Take with coffee, tea and fruit juice.Raisin Roll/ Escargot ($2.90)Croissant dough rolled with pastry cream and sultanas soaked in fresh orange juice. Very good with cafe or hot chocolate.Overall the pastries tastes quite soft and buttery. And best of all not too sweet, just alright. Even little JJ managed to finish half of the Peach Danish on his own, not bad for a year old kid. Staffs are quite friendly and the place is quite empty, could be due to its a weekday night. 繼續閱讀
