My friends and I had a small post-xmas/pre-new year dinner and someone suggested Suki-ya for the eat-all-you-can hotpot. We went on a Friday evening and checked out the place, which was quite warmly decorated and warmly lit, giving the place a cozy feel. We thought it would make an ideal place to chit chat and catch up over our food. We noted a queue forming starting around 6.30pm, but nevertheless we decided to wait for a seat.At the "Healthy Bar" near the center of the restaurant, I was glad t
While the food was quite okay, the same cant really be said for the service. The staff were not very attentive and we had to ask for a refill for our green tea thrice even with different servers. There was also a time we asked to ask twice for four containers of pork and two chicken and they eventually only sent two of each. The server said he would send the other two servings of pork in a while, which he never did. To be fair, it was during dinnertime and the place was packed but we were not very impressed with the service.
Environment-wise, we thought it was quite okay. We liked the decor which felt quite cozy but given that this was a hotpot restaurant, the place was quite noisy especially during dinner time. However we agreed that this was a nice choice for a family or friend gathering over a round of hotpot. But here's a catch, there's a time limit so you will need to keep track of the time and pace your timing so you don't end up having to rush and gobble up your food towards the end like we did.
Overall, the total bill came up to about $119.60 for four person which we felt was a little on the high side. However, we were pretty much bloated after the meal. Personally I can't really say it was worth it for myself since I ate more chicken cheese balls and ice cream (LOL) than the meat slices but my friends decided that they more or less got their money worth considering the amount of meat they ate.
