It's presence came to my surprise as I was still in thought that Hatch is still part of the stretch. I was so not used to their big neon signage that marks Wildfire kitchen and Bar now.Interior was laid back just like it used to be in Hatched and there is a bar counter for those who like to chill and grab some drinks.Though Buzzer system were in place, we were lucky that the friendly helpers still served our orders right up to our tables.Awww... it seems like there is not much choice for the man who drives. In the end, he ordered a can of A&W root beer.Initially, I was quite skeptical about the kind of fresh juices they are serving as many times, I realized cafes / restaurants are serving juices from prepacked juices rather than juicing themselves. Not knowing too many green apples juices from the shelves, I decided to order them and luckily they came in fresh by the juicer.Onion rings were deep fried to golden brown with batter puffing up around the sliced onion. Crispy and scrumptious for a start while waiting for our burgers. Dip these non-greasy rings into the spicy thousand island sauce,whetting your appetite.Never expected burgers to be served in small oval saucer plate with fries at its side. This made us additional careful when dining as we do not want to spill / waste any food. Triple Bacon came with 120 Day Grain Fed Beef Patty in combination of Butterhead Lettuce, Bacon Weave, Bacon Jam, Beer Caramelised Onions, Cheddar Cheese and Baconnaise Suace. Like any gourmet burgers they offered in there, the buns were toasted to glossy outlook and with a whiff of buttery fragrance. A more embellished version than the former, likewise using 120 Day Grain Fed Beef Patty with Baby Spinach, Bacon Weave, Rosti, Parmesan Crisp, Tempura Onion Rings, Fried Egg, Sliced Tomatoes, Beer Caramelised Onions, Guacamole and their Signature Master Sauce. Overwhelmed by its ingredients, the buger is packed full of flavour.Burgers are decent over here. With portion looking small in its plate but in fact it was actually quite filling to the tummy. The only gripe I had was that burgers buns were rather greasy. If you asked if I will come back again for their burgers, they wont be in my primary choice. 繼續閱讀

We dropped by Wildfire Kitchen for brunch one Saturday morning, in search of their highly raved about burgers. But alas, burgers weren't available till 12pm so we had to order off the breakfast menu.Taking over the spot vacated by Hatched along the leafy stretch of Evans Road (just across the road from MOE), Wildfire Kitchen spots a cafe like amostphere with cement screed floors, metallic chairs, overhanging exposed tungsten light bulbs, free seating and a "pay and collect your food at the counter" ordering process.Swiss Rösti - The rösti was deliciously crisp on the outside without coming across as overly charred whilst the scrambled eggs had a nice creaminess (a little less milk would be much appreciated though) to it. Best eaten with the chewy, mildly charred sourdough bread and the firm, savoury Toulouse pork sausage. Only gripe I had was that the salt content in the rösti seemed to be unevenly distributed; some parts were saltier than the others. Nonetheless, a pretty nice dish overall.Wildfire Breakfast - Wildfire's namesake breakfast aka the big breakfast. Fresh tasting hash browns (no recycled oil taste), savoury Toulouse sausage, mushrooms, a choice of egg (I chose poached), crisp bacon, greens and toast. The eggs were mostly runny (a tad overcooked as a tiny part of the yolk had already hardened) and went well with the sourdough. Pretty decent as well.Brunch for the both of us cost a relatively reasonable $52. Quality of food was a notch above average and I like that there's no service charge imposed. Do note that its cash or nets only so don't be caught unprepared like yours truly.And I went back during lunch one weekday to specially try out their burgers.The Works - This had everything thrown in (120 day grain fed beef patty, baby spinach, bacon, rösti, Parmesan crisp, onion rings, fried egg, tomatoes, beer caramelised onions, guacamole and signature sauce) and was it a feast for the eyes; the sheer monstrosity of all the ingredients stacked up layer by layer and culminating in a beautifully (but partially) glazed bun. Unfortunately it wasn't quite as good as it looked. By virtue of the many ingredients, there were too many competing flavours in every mouthful and it was difficult to have all the flavours gel together. Sometimes less really is more. That aside, the patty (done to a requested medium) was a little too mushy for my liking and the buns could do with a little more time on the griddle to achieve a nice crisp. Still a decent burger nonetheless but it definitely won't be near the top of my list that's for sure. Maybe their basic or specialty burgers might fare better.And of course the bill. I'll probably return just to have another burger before coming to a conclusion. I just ate at Wildfire Kitchen + Bar and thought it was the absolute worst brunch I have ever had.My boyfriend and I decided to try the restaurant after its amazing delicious and very busy neighbour Assembly had no tables available. Upon ordering the Eggs Benedict I was told the kitchen was out of poached eggs, to which I replied, are you out of eggs completely? No, just the poached kind. What does that mean exactly, you have no pot of boiling water? You have no vinegar or salt in which to poach the eggs? Or is your chef just too lazy to poach an egg? Whatever the case was with the missing poached eggs, I went with the Corned Beef Hash and was excited enough to try that. I pictured a scrumptious serving of firm and crisp corned beef fried with onion and potato topped with an egg, much like the amazing and delicious version served at Sacha and Sons. Sadly what I was served was a scoop of room temperature cafeteria like mush or what I assume was just hamburger filling mixed with some potato bits and fried for a moment or so. This scoop of meat was served beside my so called sunny side up eggs which were dreadfully undercooked, the entire top was clear liquidy boogery white. I asked to have them cooked a little longer to which the server said "that would be over-easy". Guys I can't stress enough that sunny-side up eggs is not slang for undercooked eggs, it just means they are fried on one side until cooked, you can cover the eggs with the lid of a pot to help get this right if needed. I did not eat the over-easy eggs they brought me back, nor did I eat the meat pile on my plate. Luckily my boyfriend had ordered the same thing and let me know how absolutely horrible it was beforehand.In a nutshell, if one cannot cook an egg, or has never tried corned beef hash, one should not put those items on a menu.Maybe the burgers at Wildfire Kitchen + Bar are great, I will never know. I can only tell you to avoid eating brunch there at any cost. Please go anywhere else. The LoKal, Assembly, and Forty Hands are my personal favorites. 繼續閱讀
