I grew up in this area and had been eating at Pek Kio Food Centre since young. Many of the stalls had already been operating for 30 years. One of the longest operating store was the fried carrot cake but unfortunately it was not listed on Open Rice. There are many other good stalls not listed as well. Hope that someday more of the stalls in this food centre could be added.I have been eating from this seafood stall for many years. They have a great variety of soup dishes, e.g. Tom Yam seafood sou

I have been eating from this seafood stall for many years. They have a great variety of soup dishes, e.g. Tom Yam seafood soup/noodle, Seafood soup/noodle, fish soup/noodle etc.
On this day, I wasn't feeling very well so I was looking for some hot soup for lunch. I chose the seafood soup with bittergourd instead of the usual Tom Yam. This was the first time I ate this dish. The stall opposite this one sells a better tasting fish bittergourd soup, my usual choice but unfortunately was not opened today.
I was quite disappointed with what I was served, told them to omit the Toufu but they forgot. Most of the ingredients were similar to Yong Tou Foo, not much of the fresh seafood. But as a whole it was still tasty, especially the bittergourd, soft but not bitter.
Not bad if you don't mind the Toufu. I still prefer the Tom Yam seafood soup. Should try.
