After an early movie at The Cathay on a Sunday morning, we found ourselves wanting some all-day breakfast grub. We stumbled upon Blackbird Cafe, just a stone's throw away from the mall. Blackbird Cafe is a small cafe with sleek, black furnishings. (You would think that this would make the interior terribly bleak/dark, but it didnt!) There is indoor and alfresco seating and they serve a variety of ala carte dishes ranging from breakfast favourites to hearty sandwiches and pasta. Dishes range from
We had difficulty deciding what to order, they had french toast, eggs ben, english breakfast, omelets etc. Settling on one sweet and one savoury dish, we chose the English Breakfast ($18) and the Muesli French Toast ($10) and caramelized bananas (Add on of $3).
They serve water here too so there's no obligation to get your own drinks. Be sure to try out their coffees; they seem to be quite a hit with the other patrons. Service here is nothing to shout about really. Decent but not spectacular, we would have liked it if they were more pro-active and attentive instead of just standing around in the corner. Price-wise, we wouldn't say that every dish is worth it. But the quality of the food is there, and you just have to know what to order
We recommend the Muesli French Toast. It's something that everyone should try if they are in the Dhoby Ghaut area.
