Came here on the second day of cny for dimsum. Have wanted to try their dimsum since they have opened a new branch at plaza singapura. The place was super crowded linked to it being CNY but the waitress was able to get 2 of us a seat. Came here on the second day of cny for dimsum. Have wanted to try their dimsum since they have opened a new branch at plaza singapura. The place was super crowded linked to it being CNY but the waitress was able to get 2 of us a seat.

Dimsum price is not cheap because of a lot of special premium item they have put in such as siewmai with abalone, 6 colour har gow with X) sauce and birds' nest egg tarts. We only tried one 'funky' item, which is the squid ink chee cheong fun! They ran out of quite a number of dishes when we went.. such as the xiaolong bao and the charsiew cheecheong fun.

We ordered our favourite dimsum item: egg lava bun! This dish here is quite special.. I would say its different, quite tasty with the pastry skin instead of the usual bao skin and the filling was higher quality and more substantial. The filling was thicker than usual and not as watery.. u can also taste more of the salty egg yolk. A definite must try here!

The second dish we tried was the stewed pork knuckle in vinegar.. I was thinking of the traditional blackish sauce but it tasted just like stew pork. This was something different from what we usually eat and I would say if there was a bad choice we made it was probably this one. Not that its not tasty, just not really to our liking.

We also had the siew mai with prawn. As you can see from the picture, prawn was very fresh and succulent. Worth eating too!

We ordered the fried beancurd roll with prawn. SImilar to the siew mai, prawns in it was very fresh and the crust of this dish is very different from the usual beancurd roll we have had. THis one is a little bit more like popiah skin.. more crispy and more substantial than the thin beancurd roll we are used to.

And the highlight of this visit was the squid ink chee cheong fun! As you can see from the picture.. pretty funky huh? I would say you cant really taste much of a squid ink so we really ordered this dish for fun. It was quite expensive at $7, about 30% higher price than the normal kind but was nonetheless worth the try. The sauce was light with the traditional red sweet sauce and the pork floss gave it quite a nice touch.

I would say i give them 8/10 for the innovation but for good traditional and more-pocket friendly dimsum, there are still plenty of others.
