I'm rarely a fan of chain restaurants, but I do like Sushi Tei. The Holland Village location is pretty close to where I live and always has a queue of hungry people, even on weekdays. You can sit inside or outside, but it's pretty warm on their terrace. I like sitting at the tables along the sushi conveyor belt. This way you can choose sushi rolls as they come out. You can tell the price by the color of the plate and it's from $2.20 for vegetarian sushi all the way up to $6 or so for the prawn

I like sitting at the tables along the sushi conveyor belt. This way you can choose sushi rolls as they come out. You can tell the price by the color of the plate and it's from $2.20 for vegetarian sushi all the way up to $6 or so for the prawn and avacodo sushi. I like that there are so many choices on the conveyor belt and usually get some kappa maki ($2.20), tamago sushi (S$2.20). unagi sushi ($4 I think) and edamame ($3).
If you want more creative or expensive sushi, you order it from the menu. Right now Sushi Tei's seasonal menu features wagyu beef, and they are even offering beef sushi so I wanted to try that. I was dining with 2 other people, so we got the larger set for $13.80 with 2 different kinds of beef sushi. The meat was very lightly cooked and had a rich beef flavour. It's definitely worth trying and a lot cheaper than getting a wagyu steak! I also find the service at Sushi Tei to be quite good. I guess they want to free up the tables as quickly as possible, so they're very quick at serving you the food and refilling your drinks. I love that the iced green tea is complimentary.
