Today Valerie wants to buy some pineapple tarts and we decide to visit this outlet. The pineapple tart here is very famous in Taiwan. The tarts are freshly produced in Taiwan with pineapples from Ba Gua (Eight Trigram) Moutain, eggs from Sunny Eggs farm in Taiwan, baking flour from Japan and butter from New Zealand. With no preservatives and additives added, the expiry date for the pineapple tarts is usually quite short (about 2 weeks). At the door we are greeted by a staff who asks if we have time for tea, which both of us readily agree.
The place is decorated in all natural wood and minimalist Japanese with calming music in the background. The row of pictures reminds me of Jiufen, an old gold mining town in Taiwan.
We are showed to the main table where a complimentary serving of a pineapple tart and a cup of organic Oolong Tea is presented to each of us. At the first look, the tart is different from the usual pineapple tarts (usually it is a cube form in Taiwan) with it oblong bar shape.
The pineapple tart does not taste too sweet, with a hint of tart taste. It goes well with the smooth tasting tea. The place is quite relaxing and tea is refillable here.
A box of 10 pieces of the individually packed pineapple tarts here costs $25 and is nicely packed into a cloth bag for takeaway. Remember to take note of the expiry date. By the way it is halal certified, as I have noticed the logo on the side of the box.
