Chance upon this place while on route to pek kio hawker centre. The area, there is at least 3 BKT stall now, the other being ng ah sio and founder bkt along rangoon road. Was hoping heng heng serve the herbal style soup instead of pepper. Once seated, the staff will bring on the chilli padi, cutlery, you tiao and giam cai. . Not a big tea fan but we had kungfu tea (tie guan yin), rare to have such offering now. The soup served contains 2 pork rib type "long gu", the soup felt like a hybrid, in between pepperish and herbal. Did not really like this "in between" taste though. The soup did not have other additions as well. But still eating Bak Kut Teh in a run down coffeeshop still has its charms, in this case, the company beats the quality of food. It seems they are also famous for steam fish but it cost up to $30 per fish serving.
