The shop name "Gu Zhao Wei" has conveyed that they are selling traditional delicacies. This newly launched stall has aroused my interest especially with its braised speciality.Kway Chap Set Portion at S$3.50 is definitely a steal. Kway Chap Set Portion at S$3.50 is definitely a steal. Having given a generous pile of pig organs to go along with the Kway. That includes small intestines, skin, meat, tau gua, tau pok and egg.
The intestestines have been thoroughly clean & prepared without the usual foul smell of the pig intestine. Soft with an intense taste of braised sauce (Loh Chap), absolutely well-seasoned. The usual kway chap platter I received has only 1 or 2 pieces of intestine, but gu zhao wei is simply generous to have 4-5 of them on my plate. Not to mentioned the number of pig skins ('Bak Peh') too and they were slurpilicious, very smooth and they just glidesdown my throat without much effort.
Kways are smooth & silky with every individual piece holds well toegether. The broth that comes along are great as well, not too saltish though it doesnt have much herbal taste. Drizzle with some peppers, fried onions and chinese parsley makes the food well to go!
Although the food is not the best but overall it is a good reminiscent of comfort food.Stall is operated by some seniors and middle aged ladies/men who communicate among themselves in Dialect. They smiled and smile on the job has given the thought to customers like us that they do enjoyed the job alot and have a great bonding.
Just in front of the stall, they have placed a big advertisement on their Teochew braised duck, I will make a return
soon and ordered the braised duck and support my own dialect group .
