It was a relaxing lunch at Hot Tomato, located at the 3rd level of Star Vista. Star Vista is mostly not air-conditioned (surprisingly, given that it is a new shopping mall) and it was sweltering hot yesterday. Really glad to hide inside Hot Tomato for lunch where it's cooler. This restaurant is quite crowded but there was an empty table so I don't have to wait. Prices are subjected to 10% service charge and 7% GST as usual. Food: I ordered a Mushroom Pasta (Linguine) - the second one on the menu
Food:
I ordered a Mushroom Pasta (Linguine) - the second one on the menu section of Pastas - and it was very creamy and full of mushrooms! It was just like any other regular pasta, something I was hoping against. It was just as gelat and I could only finish like 70% of it before I gave up. It was delicious for the first few mouthfuls and thereafter degenerated into quite a painful process. Shouldn't have ordered that, and if you're also one that cannot take too much gelat-pasta, do not order this, or the cabonara. This costs $12.30 after GST etc. I would recommend the Hot Tomato Platter ($11.20 after GST etc.) which my friends order. On another occasion, I had the Lava Cake ($5.30 after GST etc.) which was super delicious. Sadly I was too full to enjoy the Lava Cake this time.
The service was quite good. The waiters are all quite alert and everytime I needed to call them over for anything (the menu/the bill/extra sauces etc.) they responded very quickly even they are a distance away.
Ambience:
Although it was air-conditioned, there was sunlight streaming in which makes the place a little warm. So it is
more suitable to dine in during late afternoon or night-time.
