The restaurant was located at the second level of the shopping mall, and offered Putian cuisine, which originated from a coastal suburb in Fujian, China, also known as Xing Hwa 兴化 cuisine. Starters Platter : Seaweed with Mini Shrimps, Braised Bamboo Shoot, Pork Belly with Garlic, Braised Homemade Bean Curd
To retain the best texture and nutrition of the seaweed, we use only 15cm-long top-grade seaweed that is harvested within 30 days after cultivation. Tossed with quality mini shrimps imported from the South China Sea region, every mouthful of this starter is a delightful and refreshing experience.
The seaweed was very thin, with texture similar to black moss.
Bamboo shoots smoked in slow fire, then braised for a savoury finish.
The bamboo shoots was well braised and juicy.
Tender pork belly slices topped with rich garlic sauce over a bed of cucumbers.
The pork belly was cold and refreshing.
PUTIEN's specialty bean curd braised for savoury bursts of flavour every bite.
Somehow this dish reminded me of mock abalone, but it taste quite savoury.
Homemade bean curd and chinese cabbage, flavoured with Putian seasonal clams, dried shrimps and dried scallops in a light, tasty broth.
It was a simple soup but the soup was full of flavours especially from the seafood. The bean curd soaked up the soup easily.
Fresh fish steamed with garlic, black bean in soy sauce and chilli oil, then topped with a generous serving of chopped chillies for a savoury-spicy complement to the fish's natural sweetness.
The fish was fresh and juicy.
Succulent prawns lightly steamed and topped with savoury minced garlic.
It was helpful that the prawns had been sliced into two, so that it would be easier to remove the meat from the shells.
Deep fried to light golden brown, the meat is tender and moist on the inside. The lychee is a perfect complement with its added burst of sweetness to the sauce.
Looked not bad, but the crust encasing the meat was lacking of crispiness.
A healthy dose of emerald green vegetables infused with fragrance of garlic slices.
I like that the dish was fried with lots of garlic slices, but the vegetable was lacking of crunchiness.
Mee Sua, or literally, "Long Noodles", symbolizes longevity. PUTIEN Mee Sua is handmade using traditional methods and a recipe unique to Putian. Using premium quality flour, the pristine, white, thread-thin vermicelli doesn't turn soggy when cooked.
The noodle was smooth and well braised with a strong alcoholic taste in the flavourful broth.
The dessert was served hot and light in taste.
The fruit served were fresh and juicy.
Overall the food delicious and filling. The service was not bad with the staff helping to serve the noodle and soup in small bowls.
