Went to Suki Ya at Bugis+ and had the dinner buffet. We were given a selection of 2 soups and we chose the sweet soy sauce soup base and the spicier kimchi soup base.Overall, the sweet soy sauce soup base was too sweet and sickening and we didn't eat much from that side of the steamboat. I had expected something more savory, however this may suit those who like the sweeter taste. However, it goes really well with the Japanese Daikon (something like white radish) and they have an abundance of it.

The kimchi soup base is much more tangy and satisfying. It wasn't spicy at all and the soup went really well with the meat and vegetable selection.We also ordered the additional Wagyu beef at $7.99++ and it looked great. Look at the marbling of the beef! It went down really well so if you can spare the budget, do give it a try.
Otherwise, the other meat selections were v fresh too. They emphasize on their shabu shabu meats and true enough, the pork, chicken and beef were cut thin and ready for the shabu. The colours of the meat was just fantastic. It tasted really good with whichever sauce you desire.
There wasn't much of a seafood selection in this restaurant which is quite a bummer, but they make up for it with the meats. There are also the usual steamboat ingredients such as meatballs, seafood balls, and this faux lobster meat as pictured below. My bf thought it was real and took quite a few, only to be disappointed. It tasted good anyway.
I like that the restaurant wasn't too crowded and not stuffy at all like a lot of steamboat restaurants out there. Do give it a try if you are a fan of meat shabu shabu.
