This hor fun goes for $4.90 and has bits of shredded chicken in it. I can't really see why it would be well worth close to $5, but the texture of the hor fun was smooth and tasty to slurp up. The fried shallots gave the dish a really delicious aroma, and the taste was sufficiently salty with a smooth sweet finish from the dark sauce.
This is the hor fun with yong tau foo, charged at $5.90. This one was strangely, not as tasty as the chicken hor fun, and the color of the noodles were also a paler brown. The yong tau foo isn't much to rave about, but if you are hungry this choice would be excellent with just an add on of $1. This dish failed to impress me, the taste wasn't exactly there.
The one person set goes for $6.90, and in my opinion -it isn't really worth your time or your money. The chicken was neither succulent nor particularly fresh and tender. Worse of all, the hor fun and the soup wasn't tasty enough. Your best bet would be to go for the $4.90 Chicken Hor Fun as it was the most flavoursome of the lot. Terribly disappointing.All dishes are served with chilli sauce, and minced ginger in oil (not sure if it were garlic/chive oil?) and this really made all the difference to the food. The chilli wasn't too spicy, and the minced ginger gave the dish a lovely aroma. The oil was also super fragrant and when doused with the noodles and chicken, it really tasted fantastic!
We also ordered water chestnut ($2) which was slightly too sweet for me, and basically my entire experience felt like everything could have been improved (albeit drastically or slightly). I would say you get what you pay for, but sometimes we just wish that there could have been the best of both worlds.
