It did not taste as nice as i last remembered. The distinctive difference between the Penang style fried kway teow and the Singapore style fried kway teow is the Penang style fried kway teow is supposed to be spicier and paler in color but the Singapore style is supposed to be sweeter and darker in color obtained from the dark sweet sauce. Penang style fried kway teow is usually fried with prawns, bean sprouts, egg and pork lards. As for the Singapore style fried kway teow is usually fried with
Penang style fried kway teow is usually fried with prawns, bean sprouts, egg and pork lards. As for the Singapore style fried kway teow is usually fried with cockles, chinese sausage, bean sprouts, egg and pork lards.
This particular penang fried kway teow came with quite a few of cockles, the spicy taste is not too distinctive and with 2 pieces of prawns. Perhaps the taste has been adjusted to suit the taste buds of Singaporean or else i think this is not too authentic as compared to the real thing i have eaten in Penang.
But still, if you want a normal plate of fried kway teow then this particular one will do just fine.
