The penang laksa here tasted better than average and it costs $3. There was a tangy, sour taste and it wasn't at all spicy. The fish was very fine and plentiful while the thick bee hoon was smooth. The soup had a heavy taste but it wasn't as good as the ones at Penang. Still worth the try though.

In promoting healthier lifestyle with through the exercise with Singapore Health Promotion Board (HPB), they had their dish indicated with the amount of calories. For Penang Char Kway Teow, it consists of 500 kcal and whole grain noodles are used.

Comparing Penang's to Singapore Char Kway Teow, the significant difference is its color - a whiter version whereas Singapore's style of Char Kway Teow was coated with dark soy sauce and comes with cockles and Chinese sausage as part of its main ingredients.

The charred taste was not that much but the plate of Penang delicacies is definitely close to an authentic one with pork lard used and the correct moisture in it. Prawns, spring onions and beansprouts also make up part of the ingredients.

Given a choice, I will prefer another dish from their stall which is none other than their Penang Laksa. Likewise, whole grain noodles were used here and this dish consist of 290 kcal - another healthier choice for the patrons.

It has a heady scent of prawn paste and the refreshing aroma taste from the mint leaves. Together with the soury taste of assam and generous serving of minced fish meat, Im sold.

Shredded vegetables were added and although the gravy may looks red hot
spicy, the level of spice is little or close to none to me.

A wait up to 10 minutes is inevitable during meal hours especially when Simei Penang Laksa Speciaility is one of the popular stalls among others in the Hawker Centre.

Overall, Penang Cuisine is not very common in most Hawker Centre and I would say that the standards are pretty good.

At $3.50, this was worth the price as it was surprisingly delicious! It was very hot when served so it tasted extra good. Plus it was also rather fragrant and there was a strong taste of the wok while there was no burnt taste as well. Prawns were fresh too. Overall, this is worth a try and is definitely one of the better char kway tiaos out there, with no queue

Yuhua Hawker Centre was very crowded in the morning, totally different from the dark dessert look in the evening. There are many long queue stalls, one of them is Simei Penang Laksa Specialty. The soup had minced fish meat and tasted of sourish assam. There was also many shredded vegetables given in the soup and it tasted refreshing with the sourish soup.

Overall, I liked this penang laksa, but the fish given was quite little.

This has been the nicest Penang fried kway teow that i tried in Singapore. I always requested to have extra chilli added. It tasted better this way. The difference between the Penang and the local version of fried kway teow is dark sweet sauce is not used in Penang fried kway teow. The kway teow was fried nicely fishcake, prawns and cockles with a lot of bean sprouts. A generous bit of fried pork lards were added to enhance the flavour.

The key to a delicious plate of fried penang kway teow right at this stall is to ask for extra amount of chilli to be added. This extra amount of chilli added would actually enhanced this dish pretty much to bring its taste closer to the authentic version in Penang. Was in the vicinity of Jurong East and as it was nearing lunch-time, my dad decided to stop at the nearby Yuhua Hawker Centre for lunch. There were many seats available as it was a weekday (it's alwys packed during weekends)! So we chose a seat near the carpark, so we didnt have to walk far when we are leaving.

I went around looking at what food there was and I saw this stall. My mum had ate the laksa at this stall before and she said it was nice, so i decided to order it. The auntie manning the stall was very nice, and she would ask where we sat and whether i would like clams in my laksa or not. Though most of the stalls here have put a 'Self Service' sign at the front of the stall, many would simply bring your food to the table.

When my laksa came, it was an uncle who served it. My bowl of laksa cost $3, which i feel is reasonable. There were taupok, beansprouts, half a hard boiled egg, fishcakes and a prawn, with some garnish on top. Plus, it has a nice presentation, & somemore at a hawker centre! Surprising.
The noodles is cooked just nice, and the ingredients are fresh. Delicious! I would surely patronise again, but only once in a while, since we knw laksa is not very healthy with so much coconut milk. Kekeke.

This hawker centre is also very good in the sense that for each and every stall, a healthier choice symbol is placed next to the food which is 'healthy' for that stall, and there were even recommendations at stalls that would say 'Request for brown rice, it's healthier', etc. There was also a huge banner hanging at the hawker centre which promotes healthy eating. The different stall holders also wear a same orange apron which has words that say something like 'Great food, Fabulous health', or something like tat (can't really recall since i didnt go memorise what's written on it). Feel that all these is really great as many people eat at these hawker centres, doing this may help people choose their food wisely and at the same time, be healthier.

P.S. My photo was taken after I stirred/mixed my bowl of laksa. I forgt to take a photo before that, haha.

Penang style fried kway teow is usually fried with prawns, bean sprouts, egg and pork lards. As for the Singapore style fried kway teow is usually fried with cockles, chinese sausage, bean sprouts, egg and pork lards.

This particular penang fried kway teow came with quite a few of cockles, the spicy taste is not too distinctive and with 2 pieces of prawns. Perhaps the taste has been adjusted to suit the taste buds of Singaporean or else i think this is not too authentic as compared to the real thing i have eaten in Penang.

But still, if you want a normal plate of fried kway teow then this particular one will do just fine.

This stall is recommended by a friend and he kept telling me how good this is, i went to try it out when i happened to be in the vicinity. It surely did not taste like the famous Ah Leng Char Koay Teow over at Penang but the standard is fairly acceptable. It surely did not taste like the famous Ah Leng Char Koay Teow over at Penang but the standard is fairly acceptable. If you have never try an authentic Penang fried kway teow before then you might be impressed. It really tasted not too bad if you are not gonna compare it. One distinctive difference between the penang fried kway teow and our local one is the distinct spiciness. Our local version used quite a bit of the dark sweet sauce thus it tend to be a little sweeter and also darker in color.

This stall can be a good choice if you have crazy crave for penang fried kway teow. Correct me if i am wrong but i really do not think penang fried kway teow is a common dish in Singapore. Only a few stalls in Singapore selling it and not all tasted authentic or even close.

The prawns and other ingredients were rather fresh.
