This one and a half year old small hangout is run by the 2 times winner (2011,2012) of the Singapore National Barista Championship, Ryan Kieran Tan and his brother Dylan. Ryan is also the winner of Asean Barista Championship 2013 which is recently hosted in Bangkok. The place is quite crowded and known for its coffee, as well as, its waffles. It is located within walking distance from the Outram Park MRT Station. The place is decorated in a simple way with cement floor, rugs, subdued lighting and unique furniture, which gives a relaxed atmosphere.
Since we are lucky to have Ryan making the drinks tonight, most of us order Magic as our choice of drink. It is a moment of excitement as we watch Ryan creating latte art through pouring milk on cups filled with a small amount of Espresso.
Magic ($5.50)Double shots of Ristretto and Milk
This place is the first to introduce this which is said to be a magical ratio of coffee to milk.
The coffee is made with freshly grounded beans and gives a fragrant aroma. Although a lot of milk has been poured, the coffee gives a mellow taste. Overall it is strong coffee balanced with nicely frothed milk.
Those who don't take coffee order Hot Chocolate ($5.50) which also comes with latte art on top.
Ryan is quite friendly and suggests us to take the drinks while still hot. Please take note that if the coffee has been sitting for sometimes, you could see the colour changes to a darker tone.
Accompanying the drinks, are some light bites such as
Spam Fries ($10.00)with Kaffir Lime Mayo
It is actually luncheon meat cut into fries and deep fried.
Lotus Root Chips with Spicy ($11.90)
with Pineapple Tomato Salsa and Spicy Aioli
A bit too charred, but tastes like potato chips.
ZA ATAR-spiced Eggplant Fitters ($12.90)with Lemon Yogurt
The eggplant is quite juicy inside but a bit lacking in crispiness especially when cold.
Truffled Sweet Potato Chips ($12.90)
with homemade Aioli and Chives
Similar to the lotus root chips, it tastes like potato chips too. But lacking of the truffle oil taste too.
Truffles Fries ($12.90)with freshly grated Truffle, Truffle Aioli and Parmesan Cheese
The truffle oil is not overwhelming and the fries' taste is further enhanced by truffle dip.
Crispy Squid ($13.90)with cabbage slaw and thai dipping sauce
Quite juicy squid, but can be a bit lacking of crispiness when cold.
Magic Mushrooms ($15.00)with Homemade Aioli and Roasted Herbs
The deep fried mushrooms are very juicy, despite very crispy on the outside.

Today Specials' Buttermik Waffles with Passionfruit White Chocolate, Coconut Zest and Vanilla Ice Cream ($14.90)While the waffle is quite crispy on the outside, inside it is soft and fluffy. Although passionfruit sounds sour but the sauce tastes quite nice with just a hint.
Overall it is a great place to hang out with friends with its coffee and waffles, especially for coffee lovers to satisfy their caffeine addiction.
