A friend of mine has been asking me to try the tonkatsu bento if ever i visited Sugisawa and I did so finally tonight! The bento set consists of a breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet, garnished with shredded cabbage, tuna & salmon sashimi, boiled vegetables & prawn, as well as miso soup, rice and a bit of spicy yellow karashi (Japanese mustard). It also consists of radish and yellow daikon pickles (sorry, i ate them all before picture was taken )
I loved the freshness of tuna and salmon sashimi, oiishi The poached prawn was big and juicy The boiled vegetables (carrot, bamboo shoot, yam onden, egg, fishcake) were another favourite of mine oh yes, the main dish - tonkatsu was nicely fried, crisp on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside... you can add some tonkatsu sauce to it but personally, i prefer not to have it. The miso soup was very flavourful and not too salty (unlike most)
