We ordered their special Herbal Chicken ($24) -this is one of the signatures, Oyster Omelette ($8) and a fried Heng Cai (hokkien for spinach but these are of the Indian variety) w garlic for $6. Rice goes for 50c a plate!

The vegetable is my favourite -the leaves are still green and crisp even though it's really easy to overcook spinach. There aroma of the oyster sauce and savouriness of the dish is just right. it has a slight tinge of smokiness or wok hei which makes this dish so terribly addictive. The simplicity of the flavours yet the crispness of the vegetable makes this an instant win.

The oyster omelette had spring onion and chilli inside, which was a nice touch because it added fragrance to the dish. This omelette is probably one of the less-oily variations of this dish that you'll find at a tze char stall. We did like that it wasn't overly oily and the egg was fluffy too -one drawback was that there was very little oysters and the oysters were slightly overcooked.

The thing about the herbal chicken is that the gravy is really thick and to die for. While it doesnt have the heatiness of the ginger, it does have a slightly herbal quality to it. I would have liked the gravy less starchy and more herbal, but for those who aren't accustomed/do not particularly fancy the herbal aroma, you'll enjoy this. The chicken has ample meat and the thigh meat is just so wonderfully tender. The chicken is literally sweet from the stew!

Service is not particularly fantastic, the ambience is chill and has a super laidback feel with tables piled with food and beer bottles. This tze char place makes for a perfect chill gathering with friends over reasonably priced food in the Farrer Park area (it's just across City Square Mall!) It has a quality that really reminds you of Bangkok eateries and the nightlife whirs by as you sit back with good food and company.
