Wheat Baumkuchen is a bakery cafe producing the famed layered German confection, easily recognized by its characteristic concentric rings which resemble the cross-section of a tree trunk. Although the layers of my Classic original オリジナル baumkuchen were visually well-defined, this was not the case taste-wise. On its own, it tasted similar to a butter cake, and could have been more buttery and moist. Thankfully, the cake was coated with a layer of refreshing lemon frosting that helped to liven up its flavor.
While I felt that Wheat Baumkuchen's cakes please the eyes more than the tastebuds, I wouldn't mind trying some of the other innovative baumkuchen flavors it offers, such as durian, green tea and Nutella almond.
