As you can see, our burgers are placed on the wooden squarish plate, fries are contained in the mug. Ordered long black coffee. The soup, bread and honey lime juice come together as a set with the lobster tail burger.

Yummylicious food at a reasonable price.
Highly recommended for those who stay at the North to give this cafe a visit.

Nice pond and environment as you step out of the cafe. Nice place to relax should the weather permits...

Other Info. : Satisfied meal

This was my must-order appetizer every time I go to Grub. The sauce was really addictive, fries never taste the same with the sauce. Highly recommended, goes well with beer and friends! ^_^

It is like just eating normal vanilla ice cream with any cake. Overall, I still find that grub I being overrated. Will not be retuning again.

I have ordered soup of the day which is cream of mushroom and it taste rather mediocre. nothing's bad about it but nothing fantastic about it too.

For my main, i had grub cheeseburger for sgd $13++ which consists of freshly minced beef patty and fries.
The dish is also quite average and to me the portion is too small. the beefy is fresh but it could have been more well flavored.

The ambience of the cafe is quite vibrant there. Overall, i find that grub is rather overrated by its online reviews. would not specially return to grub unless i happened to be at bishan park.

Get rid of tiring stand in front of the restaurant, the advanced design system was thoughtful. By pressing the touch-screen machine, we got our queue number and join the waiting list. Staff will give us a call once our table is ready, we took opportunity to go around and snap photo while waiting.

Western brunch chosen, sausage and bun gave a companion twist. Entire was solid firm and fries were crunchy, set was filling. Juice was refreshing, started up my taste bud in lazy Sunday morning. Ice-cream for dessert was an absolutely desired dish, it would be better if it came later or after we finished up our main course. For the quality of food, creativeness of platter and healthy ingredients, I have to say it was extremely affordable.

Anyway I had dinner there with my friend and the place was packed. We also ended up waiting for quite some time for our food. Still it is worth the wait. We ordered the Truffled Egg Cocotte ($7) which comes with toasted focaccia bread and a bowl of eggs topped with crispy parma ham. The bread is nice as it has been toasted and goes great with the eggs. The eggs is a little salty because of the parma ham.

I had the GRUB cheeseburger ($13) which comes with 100% freshly minced beef patty and Monterey Jack Cheese. I often avoid beef if possible but my friend highly recommended this. I like the overall presentation of the burger, similar to that of The Handburger. A wooden plate with indents for the cup of fries. The burger is not too bad but the portion is a bit too small for my liking.

We also ordered a pot of Green Tea ($5) to go with the food. Overall I had say I love the atmosphere and ambience at Grubs and would definitely return for another round of food and drinks.

For a start, I do not really understand why the name "grub", but they made finer dining in the park possible without having to burn a big hole in one's pocket. One more thing, they operate on a "first come first serve" basis, which means they do not take reservations. Hence, do prepare for a long queue if you are later than their opening hours.

Have a try at their Grilled Chicken Thigh Burger (S$12) - a beautiful rendition of marinated chicken thigh, peanut butter aioli and fried enoki, sandwiched between two sesame buns, or GRUB Cheeseburger (S$13) - a signature which consists of freshly minced beef patty and melted Monterey Jack cheese.

"Our promise is that everything that appears on your plate has been carefully thought through and weighed out to give the best balance between quality and affordability."

Want something more brunch-like? Pulled Beef Burger (S$12) would be your best bet. A combination of marinated beef shreds and mustard sauce, topped with a sunny side-up is sure to brighten anyone's day. Oh, and every burger set is completed with a cup of French fries.

Well, if you were to ask me which is my favourite burger among the three, it would definitely be the one with grilled chicken thigh. Tender, juicy and savoury, now what's better than that?

Besides burger affair, GRUB serves a wide variety of Western dishes as well, like Slow Roasted Pork Belly (S$15), churros, and Pan Seared King Salmon Risotto (S$15) - a combination of risotto and chimchurri, the salmon flakes nicely with a fork and overall, the dish was creamily satisfying, without being overly heavy on the palate.

Famous for their burgers, I ordered the Pull Beef Burger, Crispy Fish Burgers, Risotto, Churros for dessert and Chili con carne for appetizers.

Burgers are really awesome. No doubt about it. Pulled Beef comes in minced portion, Fish was huge and Chili con carne, they were pretty generous with the beef toppings. Risotto was generally ok, portion is abit too small, Churros is the commonly dessert on everyone's else table!

I would definitely come here to try their other mains but if you thinking of coming here just for brunch, there are probably other cafés which offer better varieties. Lunch, dinner wiser the selection is pretty ok.

Here's what behind the scene. Taking pictures (of food) before eating is already a habit for me and can encourage weight loss.

I had the famous pork belly, which was crisp on the outside, tender and succulent on the inside! Eaten together with the mash, which had a mango taste, it was simply divine! The best pork belly I've had in any cafe.

My partner ordered a mushroom risotto, as much as it was pretty good, i wouldn't recommend it if you're a huge eater or you're famished because the portion was really really small!

I'll definitely be back for the burgers because they look so Instagram worthy! Hahaha! Do arrive early because you may have to wait for a while for your food to be served! (:

We ordered Mentaiko Fries and the big breakfast set to try! The mentaiko fries was simply heavenly with the Mentaiko sauce and seaweed complimenting the fries. The fries wasn't too salty and the mentaiko sauce was very generous in terms of portion. They even gave extra mentaiko sauce in case the amount of sauce on the fries wasn't enough! The breakfast set came with several dishes: Salad, Chicken Sausage, Scrambled egg and toast. The chicken sausage was very tender and juicy and absolutely delicious! The scrambled egg was tasty as well and wasn't too bland or salty and just nice. The set came with a cup of coffee which can be upgraded to a cup of gourmet coffee but I didn't take that deal. All in all, despite a higher price, the quality of Grub's food is worth the price paid.

GRUB, which is by Cookyn Inc. is located at the recently revamped Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park is definitely a good place for a walk or jog, but the idea of having an eatery in a scenic location like this is ingenious. The small lake in front of the bistro gives it a unique look second to none. There are choices of interior seating which is brightly lit, and an alfresco area that is nice on a breezy night being dimly but adequately lit which looks ideal for a romantic date. The menu here is typically western, focusing on mostly bistro fare such as burgers and also offers brunch till 2pm on weekends.

The Grilled Chicken Leg ($15.00) was indeed a pleasant surprise when it was presented in a form similar to Chicken Corden Bleu. Served atop a homemade mash and stuffed with roasted peppers, it was a dish that was very well put together. The peppers were able to give a nice spiced flavour to the chicken, and the corn and garlic garnishes gave a lot of flavour to the rather impressive and smooth mashed potatoes which tasted unlike pre-made ones with the additional cheesiness, but more of the no-nonsense pure tasting ones with ample seasoning.

Churros ($8.00) are hard to find in Singapore, and one of the reasons why we made a visit to GRUB was because they had them. I found that the Churros had the perfect texture, but lacking on taste if being eaten on its own. The batter itself was a bit bland, and there was not enough cinnamon and sugar coated on top. Probably they were done this way on purpose for the dips that came with it. The chocolate sauce was rich but lacking a sweetness to make the churros alluring, but the tangy creme anglaise was the one that brought life to the churros. The tangy lemon which also had a creamy taste gave a nice soft sweetness with a zing to the Churros, and was agreed as the most compatible dip of the two.

Chanced upon a blog entry of this place and was instantly intrigued due to its relatively near location to our home. Bishan Park?! We didn't know there was such a nice-looking cafe there, other than their highly popular neighbour i.e. Canopy.

This cafe is located in an entirely separate part of the park, all on its own amidst lush greenery and placid pools.

As we reached the cafe during a somewhat non-peak timing (10am+), we were seated immediately...but no menus were given to us for a full 10 mins before the somewhat inexperienced service staff were alerted.

We had the truffle egg cocotte, GRUB Breakfast Set as well as the GRUB cheeseburger. To us, the food was average (nothing to shout about or scramble down for a return visit) - there are definitely better choices for brunch. The service, as said, leaves much to be desired, probably due to the new-ness of it all.

But I really liked the decor and laid-back ambience (pets are welcome!) of this place, and the open-ness of its location. One can even imagine one is in some Aussie cafe! And what better way to work off those foodstuffs by a walk around the park just around?

I would go back another time, just for the location... and probably the coffee.

I must confess that I was grubby when I had to queue at 5.30pm sharp when the restaurant officially opens for dinner. Not that I was late, but people had been queuing before the door opens. So here's our dinner: The Chilli con Carne ($8) was a simple appetizer of corn chips served with a stew of grass-fed beef chuck meat and beans. Served with sour cream and homemade green chimichurri, the blend of spices is weak and won't set your tongue ablaze.

Main courses range from mediocre to good. The Smoked Pork Belly ($15) was the first to be delivered to our tables. On a bed of smooth mash potato, mango sauce and cherry tomatoes, the orange block of meat is like a body-builder with a gentle soul. With a right ratio of fats to meat, it neither overwhelms with grease nor engage the teeth in a laborious sawing job.

On the other hand, the Pan Fried Salmon $15 seemed like reinventing the wheel with a different protein. Old friends like the mash potato (replaced the unavailable risotto) and the green chimichurri (from the Chilli Con Carne appetizer) met again to greet the salmon.

Yet, another fish was terrific. The Crispy Fish Burger $12 was constructed with a perfectly deep-fried golden monkfish served on a bright, tart remoulade sauce. Fish varies daily so you may get cod or hake.
Being a supporter of Hugh's Fish Fight, I was happy to learn that the place uses sustainable fish. Besides, it was a courteous gesture of the staff to inform us about the tough texture of the monkfish to us during order even though the fish did not turn out that way. Fries were excellent too--crunchy with intense potato flavour.

We tried nearly everything on the dessert menu: Churros ($9) did not excite with any cinnamon aroma. The amount of sugar coating could have decreased, unlike those described in earlier online reviews. But the chocolate sauce was served cold, resulting in a rather glumpy, odd taste.

My threshold for chocolate was put to the test by the chocolate pot $8 (see top pic). It would be mission impossible to wipe off the extremely dense bittersweet ganache without the spicy cashew praline crumbles.

Though the Belgian waffles ($8) are not the crunchiest ones but at least, it had a sturdy structure with some slight browned edges and fluffy interior. Thankfully, the hazelnut ice cream came in a generous scoop to pair with the unsweetened dough.

The food here are normal western fare which can be found outside a park so patience is the key if one really wants to dine in here. So the next time if I return for brunch, I would be dressed in my sports attire and go jogging to kill the time.

Anyway, we didn't know it then and we kept on walking and walking till we reached the place after 40 freaking minutes! But at least when we got there, there were still a few empty tables so we didn't have to wait. I ordered the Grub cheese burger and lime juice first.

The burger was really affordable - it was like $11 only, and it came with fries. The beef patty for me was just the right size. It wasn't so thick that you would have a hard time eating it already. It was sandwiched in between two buns with mayo and ketchup The cheese was soo melted that it seemed to be part of the patty already. Sooo GOOD! The lime juice was ok, it seemed like there was 80 percent water and 20 percent lime.

Once I was done with my burger - I ordered dessert. I read in a blog that some people drop by this place just for this dessert. It was also quite good even though the chocolate tasted like those powdered ones. There was another sauce, the creme anglaise, which had a slight tangy taste...

I dont know if my hunger from walking for 40 minutes has affected my tastebuds, but I think the food at Grub are really worth praising. It's comfort food which you can enjoy within the lush and green Bishan garden. And the prices are very reasonable too. Two thumbs up!

My friend had the Grub Cheeseburger, which was average as well but filling. For desserts, we had Churros ($8), with a sweet condensed milk-like dip and chocolate dip. If you're not a fan of fried dough, try their waffles instead (looks good and lots of tables ordered).
