Hua Fong Kee Roasted Duck is one of my favorite weekend lunch places. I'll come here whenever I need my roasted meat fix. It is in a coffee shop setting with plentiful of seating areas, however it can be quite crowded during peak hours. To avoid the crowd, try to reach this place during off peak hours. I must say their staff is very friendly. When you are looking at their stall, almost anyone standing outside the stall will ask what you want to order. My all-time favorite is the Char Siew Roaste

My all-time favorite is the Char Siew Roasted Pork combination with an additional lu dan and it costs only $3.80. Unlike other roasted meat stall, Hua Fong Kee’s Char Siew is thinly sliced and tender. Their Roasted Pork is crispy and has the savory spice flavor.

Trying out one of the signature dish of the stall, it was disappointing this round. Maybe my expectation towards their food was too high since it was well-known in town. I rembered that other food I quite satisfied but not for Hor Fun.I order dried version, Char Siew on top and dumplings in soup. Unfortunately, it was too oily. The gravy was sticky and Hor Fun was mushy. Soy sauce was too dark and chilli paste was not enough, it had no much taste except salty. Of course the portion was okay, jus

Soy sauce was too dark and chilli paste was not enough, it had no much taste except salty. Of course the portion was okay, just that I not fancy about this Hor Fun so I was not able to finish the whole bowl. Price was $3.30 for mine.

Today I tried out another signature dish. Near to my office, it was my top choice coffee shop I been. The business still good even rainy day, all the staffs were busy serving their customers. The Char Siew here was not as sweet as I would like to be. I prefer the old times version whereby the Char Siew meat was honeyly flavourful. Perhaps they served Singaporean style, more humble in their taste. Perhaps they served Singaporean style, more humble in their taste. Frankly, I like its rice very much, a very traditional and friendly familiar taste from hometown. It came along with a bowl of soup, it was just nice, not too salty. $3.30 for one set like this, it was a common price for coffee shop.

Coming to this stall, I took order for my lunch. There was quite a number of staff helping there, taking orders, cooking and serving customers. Dark Brown sauce, the gravy was salty, sweet and very fragrant. It was actually originated from Black Soy Sauce and I added mine with a little chilli. And, Wanton was in the plain soup. It looked attractive.

Dry-stirred till the sauce mixed up together with my noodles, Char Siew was grilled well. Veggies gave the crunchiness to the noodles, making the whole lively. Noodles were chewy and elastic. Portion wise, it was sufficient for one person indeed. Very inexpensive, it was $2.80 for mine.

1st i must say the stall looks tempting to any diner with the nicely roasted offering on display. I fell for this temptation. Ordered a char siew and roast duck mixed set for 1. The roast duck comes sprinkled with sesame seat. I just find the sauce mix a tad too saltish. The char siew was not fat but it lack the well roasted factor so was kind of disappointed. Couldn't taste the sesame infusion in the duck as well. So i felt it was overrated. Paid $5 for my set

I have ordered roasted duck with white chicken rice for takeaway. For $5.30 a packet, I feel that it is quite expensive. The deboned roasted duck and white chicken both taste very tender and chopped into bite size pieces. It is served with chicken flavoured rice. Overall very tasty.

Cant take your eyes off the bowl of savoury duck meat over the Hong Kong Style Noodles? Why not head down to Toa Payoh and witness these juicy and tender Roasted duck meat covered by a thin cripsy skin. I bet it will tickle your taste buds as soon as you have a bite of it.

The thinly sliced Char Siew comes in dark brown color has little or no fat seen. Together with its special chilli and special sauce from the springy fine Hong Kong noodles, the dish tastes awesome!

Even the bowl of soup is good. Rich in flavour with herbs and tastes abit peppery.
