Anyway, the famous Lemon Tart (SGD$5.00) won hands down, with fluffy yet solid crust, sweet buttery taste on its own, and the zesty lemon custard was lovely with the right notes of sweet and sour blended into one. I loved the light sugar dusting atop the citrusy delicacy as well.

*Sidney had the Beefy Burger (SGD$16.00) - rib eye steaks with tomato, Arugula (rocket salad) and Hollandaise. He was disappointed with the bun - the toasted ones with sesame seeds would have fared better. The beef patty whilst containing a nice smokey hint to its flavor, was a little dry and bland.

I had the Caesar Salad with Prawns (SGD$10.00) - comprising of fresh Romaine lettuce, croutons, poached eggs, cheese powder and succulent, bouncy prawns. I guess not many people could get a Caesar Salad wrong - hence I did enjoy the freshly tossed salad here, especially paired with my favorite seafood (prawns) to add a seaworthy sweetness to the flavor.

But yes, we are talking about Loysel's Toys (the Coffee Crafters) located at 66 Kampong Bugis #01-01 Sam Tat Building, Singapore 338987 and the number is 6292 2306.
This place is perfect for anyone who is seeking for a serene, casual and relaxing setting to chill out, catch up or simply chow on light delicacies over good coffee. There is an almost non-pretentious air about this place, and they serve savoury food such as sandwiches and roast chicken here as well as sweet pastries like croissants, muffins and cakes.
I had the Soy Mocha that I had loved so much during my last visit. I had nearly forgotten about it because my preferred coffee lately is usually Cappuccino, but being here reminded me of my favorite Soy Mocha. The steamy hot of caffeine here is rich in coffee's aroma and redolent of chocolate's sweetness; the hint of soy gave a smoothness to the coffee, heightening its sensation.
I paired the coffee with this pretty little thing - Elderberry Yogurt Muffin. I had been debating between the gigantic Almond Croissant, Lemon Tart or another cake when I saw this. The word "yogurt" immediately had me drawn, and I chose this. The first bite was heavenly - sweet, but with delectable hints of berries. The texture was a solid flufiness, and the entire thing was not too flakey or sweet. I thought this was a really perfect dessert / muffin. Note that I am usually not a muffin fan.

Ambience at Loysel's Toy is laid back, and quiet. Located beside the relatively peaceful Kallang River Park, Loysel's Toy plays off the natural surroundings with wooden furniture, simple maritime signboards, and clean lines. Great place for a slow meal.

Service at Loysel's Toy is decent. Orders at taken at the counter, although your food is served to you. Staff are young, mostly students working part-time, and the service reflects this. Don't expect much conversation, or product knowledge.

Food at Loysel's Toy is generally decent. Not as tasty or as value-for-money as other places though. The menu at Loysel's Toy focuses on brunch items, as well as pastries. I find the pastries here to be of better quality than most of their main brunch dishes.

Known for having one of the best coffees in town, and having such a nice cosy space, it's no wonder that more people are flocking to this quiet little cafe. Situated right next to the Kallang river (though you can't really see it with the bushes around), it feels quite like a mini getaway from the usual skyscrapers and busyness of life.

Loysel's Lemon Tart ($4.20)
This sure looked tempting, with its golden brown crust and rich yellow lemon curd. Flowing out almost immediately while cutting it open, I liked how smooth it was, and having a refreshing sour taste at first bite, then leaving a sweet after taste. A strong lemon taste yet wasn't overpowering and was pretty addictive. I would have preferred the tart being more crumbly to complement the dessert better, and perhaps more buttery to have that richer tart taste.

Eggs Ben ($12)

I was surprised to see the rather small serving they had for eggs ben. Served on toast instead of the traditional muffins, it was slightly over toasted that made it too hard, not the kind with just a crisp outside and warm soft insides. Just about to be satisfied with it passing the eggs ben test, I was disappointed to find that it was quite over-poached, with a whole layer of cooked yolk lining the sides (on the right not shown in the picture). Coming to the hollandaise sauce, I thought it was quite a generous amount they gave, but would have preferred a richer version of it, with it being slightly more buttery. The redeeming factor came with the bacon accompanying the dish, and well, bacon just makes everything a notch better. Not a dish worth your calories, in my opinion, as you can easily get better quality eggs ben elsewhere.
Nom Factor: 6.0/10

Loved the overall ambience of the place, and it's definitely great for gatherings or chilling out sessions. However, with the dishes we've tried, I probably wouldn't return for a second visit.

Lattes are really nice on rainy afternoons if you like coffee. I am not that fussed up over coffee and really prefer milk tea so shall not comment on my latte. The food menu is quite limited but good places do their little offerings really well (as opposed to being a jack of all trades). I liked their scrambled eggs: fluffy airy and soft. The pancakes with grilled pineapple with bacon was also quite nice with properly caramelised pineapples without being overburnt.

The FoodInstead of ordering cake or any mains or even coffee, I decided to try their tea selection this time. So I ordered their earl grey tea. not sure about the hype about this place. there is absolutely no atmosphere, and the place is so tiny, it is hard to get a good spot. there is no view, no people to watch - nothing to see. the industrial fans they have everywhere blew everything around and we couldn't even read the papers! the lemon tart was liquidy. but it was very lemony, which was good. did not like eating liquid lemon tart filling. service is not friendly and not fast. costs about $6

i love the cakes at Loysel's Toy café. They are simply delicious. my friend brought us there to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We each ordered a slice to eat. I ordered there chocolate cake. It was wholesome. The slice was as huge as those at secret recipe. It is not too sweet. the richness of the cake is totally mouth watering. It is very sinful but very delicious!
