The restaurant offers many options. But its specialty is the sashimi, which are flown fresh directly from Japan twice weekly. The uni and the amaebi is especially sweet. The restaurant does not offer any kid menus, but u can request for mini udon or ramen. My 18mo baby finished up the whole bowl of udon by himself, which was a surprise since he usually doesn't eat much.
Highly recommended, even for families.

The box contained grill eel, sashimi, tempura, stewed chicken, salad and sushi. The sashimi is fresh and the grill eel is tasty. I think it is worth paying for this premium set. However the waiting time for them to prepare this set is quite long. I waited about 45 mins.

Beef Teppanyaki Set - $18++

The set came with teppanyaki beef with bean sprouts, chawanmushi, an appetizer, garlic rice, miso soup and a dessert ( watermelon with Konnyaku Jelly). I said this was rather worthwhile! ^_^

If you super big appetite, you can top up the dinner set with a plate of 6 sushi or sashimi, and the total price is approximately $25++ ( I cant really remember, should be more or less around $25++).

The beef cubes were really chewy. On a side note, I went back Rakuzen second time and ordered again, the beef teppanyaki set. Hey, dun say I'm boring person okay. I'm just being very loyal... Keke.

Anyway, I find the beef cubes were slightly harder aka overcooked, so the standard is not very consistent lah

Orders of my friends....

Unagi Set - $18

Erm, my friend ordered the set with the top up of sashimi, cant really remember whether the price is before or after the top up. Dun blame me if I got the price wrong! =p

We unanimously agreed that the unagi was HUGEEEE... The chef so generous hor? Hhaha

Special for us, the chef drawn a Crab there. Just because my friend requested, it was very cool right? Soft shell Crab VS Cartoon version Crab, we were so excited. Sushi appeared nice and tasted great. My friend’s expectation towards the food was quite high, thankfully, it did not disappoint us.

This is my first time to Rakuzen actually. I always have high expectation of Sashimi as i used to hate raw fish ( if they are not fresh, the meat is very yucky and fishy). so to me, sashimi must be very fresh for me to return to the restaurant again! Rakuzen's sashimi is pretty fresh but the food is slightly more expensive. their sushi is pretty good. There are many other dishes that we ordered but i will want to share with the fav 2 of all we ordered that day here.Tako Wasabizuke - the wasabi

Tako Wasabizuke - the wasabi is not too strong and the octopus is super fresh without the fishy smell.

1) Chicken Nanban Zen $18++

We waited for about 20 minutes before the food was served. The waitress did informed us that this set meal will have to wait due to the crowds during lunch. The chicken was tender and juicy. The taste of the Nanban Sauce was not too bad - abit sour and salty. Chawanmushi was good - soft and silky. Overall: 8.5/10

3) Yakiniku Zen with Sashimi $23++

The yakiniku (beef) was cold when it was served. This is really bad
. However, the taste of the beef was not too bad; juicy and tender just that it was served cold. Most of the set comes with chawanmushi which I personally feels that is the best! The sashimi was fresh. Overall: 6/10

My first time to this restaurant and japanese food was our first thought for dinner. The restaurant is located on level 1 of Millenia Walk, in a corner, facing Conrad Hotel. At about 6.30pm, there were already quite a number of tables filled, but thankfully, we did not have to wait. It was not easy deciding on what to eat, as there was a variety of set meals as well as ala carte dishes available.

Finally we decided to order 2 set meals because they are more value for money compared to ala carte dishes.

1. Chicken Teriyaki Zen with Sashimi set ($21++)

This was for mine, and I love it! The Grilled Chicken was well marinated with Teriyaki sauce and they were generous with the serving. I also like the Chawamushi very much. It was very flavourful and was an unique taste from the Chawamushi served in restaurants like Sakae Sushi as it didn't give me the feeling that I was eating "steamed egg". Lol......

I thought the rice was also different from the rice available in other Japanese restaurants, more sticky and fragrant, so I guess the restaurant claim that it uses only the best Japanese rice from a Japan farm house is true. There was also 1 cold dish on the right side of my picture, just above the miso soup. I don't fancy cold dishes, but this one was quite good, it tasted like sweet & sour fish slice. Of course, not to forget the freshly sliced sashimi! There was 7 or 8 pieces of 3 types of sashimi and all were very fresh and yummy!

2. Gyuuniku Houbay Yaki Zen with Sashimi set ($23++)

My friend was feeling adventurous that night, so she decided to order this haha. The only difference between her set and mine was the meat. Hers was beef cooked over a flaming pot. I try some of the beef and wow! Delicious! Very tender and well marinated!

We enjoyed every bit of our food as well as the ambience of the restaurant. The servings were generous too, and we had to waste some food as we were really very full.

The service was also not bad, generally friendly and courteous, but we must say they are a bit careless. We didn't notice that they forgot to ignite the flame for my friend's beef, and already started eating, then suddenly 1 of the waiters came to ignite the flame for her, while at the same time he apologised for forgetting to do that before serving the set. Imagine if we had been fast eaters and the beef was all eaten up before he remembered?

Nonetheless, I'd love to return to this restaurant again to try its other food on the extensive menu.
