At $3.50, this beef Burger is not expensive as it comes with fries and considering that it is food sold within the school compound. It was surprisingly filling and the taste was rather nice. The beef patty was not at all tough and hard and was moist. It also went well with the cheese. Fries tasted average.

I believed this is one of the ntu must try western food. It is almost impossible to find a seat during lunch hour. They have 2 stations in total; one for selling their set lunch and drink the other selling other dishes. I don't why is it so complicated. But the food is really nice. There is my teriyaka chicken lunch set. I love the chicken, it is so tender and the vegetables are so juicy. But the wedges is a little soggy and wasn't really hot when served. I ordered the grilled salmon with teriyaki sauce while a friend ordered the chicken cutlet set. the portion was huge for the cheap price of $5.50 for both dish. for that portion of salmon fillet, it would have already cost me more than $5 in ntuc. i like the accompanying garlic bread for both dish too. it was huge too. the fries for the chicken cutlet was huge. everything was huge haha. all in all, its very economical to dine here despite it looking expensive (the reason why we went there actual

Finally tried the pasta at Palette as their pastas were only available from late afternoon onwards. The presentation of the dish was quite nice. I was hoping their aglio olio to be more spicy though but it wasn't. The pasta could be less oilier. Overall it is still worth a try. A set meal (pasta + drink) costs $6+. Not sure if I was too hungry or what but I wasn't full yet after completing my meal.

I found my Macdonalds burger alternative: The Lamington Burger! It is honestly so much better in terms of quality, ingredients, portion. Besides, it is also quite cheap at $3.50 for whatever you see in the picture. It includes a tasty beef patty, mushrooms (which I wished could have more of), tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce, and cheese! So much ingredients for only $3.50. The atmosphere at Palette is also air-conditioned and so much quieter and spacious with a lovely view overlooking NIE. I also lik

Today I wanted to try something new at The Palette - Mushroom and Chicken Baked Rice. Why Palette is my preferred dining place over anywhere else in NTU - conveniently located at the North Spine area, always very empty because it's huge and not because it's not good, wide variety of choices, quieter. I also like that this place is very clean and the cleaners here are very conscientious. Though I admit that the prices of the food here is slightly more expensive than the food court one level above

Though I admit that the prices of the food here is slightly more expensive than the food court one level above it, you are really paying for the ambience. The baked rice is pretty well-done, I liked the cheese a lot but the chicken just doesn't go well with me because it's quite tough and not really easy to bite. The mushrooms were chewy and tasty. Comparing this with the Marina Baked Rice I tried the other time, I would say that the Marina Baked Rice is a lot nicer even though it's only more expensive by a few cents.

This one is $4.30 while the Marina Baked Rice is $4.80.

Today we decided to try The Palette, a restaurant sitting opposite to Macs/Canadian Pizza/Subway/Old Chang Kee. It looks expensive... but it is really the same price as Macs for the amount of food/fullness you can get. You can look at this board here: It tells you the meal of the day which is $5.70 for a main course + soup of the day + drink. Seems reasonable? If you don't like what is offered for the day, you can also choose to order ala carte, which is also affordable and priced at around $4

If you don't like what is offered for the day, you can also choose to order ala carte, which is also affordable and priced at around $4 - $7 range for main course (depending on your choice).

If you're ordering the meal of the day, you do it at the outside counter. For ala carte, you need to go into the inside counter. You get a number and you go back to your seat and wait for your number to be called. I waited for about 10minutes but maybe baked rice takes longer.

Marina Baked Rice (add-on rice) | $5.30

I chose Marina Baked Rice that costs $4.80, with add-on rice of $0.50 ($5.30 in total). You can also add on a fried egg for $0.50. I think... overall it tastes good. Objectively, there's a layer (not very thick) of cheese layered on the rice, and I think three small prawns and mussels. Not generous enough, in my opinion. There's also herbs sprinkled on top of it. Looks spicy but it's not spicy. It's just extremely hot so wait a while before you start eating. They compensate the lack of flavour through spamming tomato sauce in the rice hidden underneath. It makes the rice very slushy. Other than that I think it is generally enjoyable.

This is what the interior looks like. There's still another side to it and it's a very huge place. No worries about not finding enough space.

If you're not the sort that eats a lot, there's a whole selection of chilled salads, cakes ($3.50/ea) and fruits in the chilled section. There's really a huge selection available.

The outside counter serving the meal of the day very efficiently.

Overall a good experience. Not as expensive as it looks from outside.

I had a craving for pasta. Hence after a tiring day of lessons, me and my friend headed down to fill our famished stomachs. I ordered the salmon and spinach pasta. It was okay. The sauce was a disappointment. It was just kind of like a cream soup base and not the delicious cream base kind. A set costs about $5

The rosemary chicken does not taste very well. The chicken itself weren't nice as the meat were not tender and a little different to slice. The rosemary sauce itself has a strange herb taste to it which surfaced out after a few mouthful. The mushroom soup were nice and the potatoes were tasty. The vegetables were delicious too. The service was good and fast and the environment is suitable for chilling and having a quiet meal.

Who says school café food aren’t nice. The seafood aglio olio is awesome. It does not have all the fattening cream sauce nor tomato sauce. it is sautee perfectly. Love the amount of seafood they added in. the prawns are really fresh, it is so crunchy. The sotong is cooked perfectly, not overcooked and taste like rubber. I love the hotness of this dish. Adds some flavor to the dish. A must try!

Marina baked rice is a seafood baked rice. It consists of mussels and prawns. The cheese was tasty and there was a layer of tomato taste sauce underneath it. However, the rice was not very nice and does not stick together much. The cream of vegetable taste quite light and I feel that it needs more flavouring. However the price is still reasonable and this restaurant is suitable for chilling out too.
