Fish and Rice Cry Jan 10, 2011   (Related Review)

This was their Fish and Rice.

The Rice is mushroom-y. Very mushroom-y.
If you mushroom, this would be a good dish to order. Cos its instant HIT of mushroom taste. The moment the scoop of "fried rice" is introduced into the mouth. You feel the mushroom.

Fish... it was a challenge.
I hope its only an isolated case. Cos the one that I had, I can taste the stale oil taste.

nope.

Like I say, hope its an isolated case.

Fish Burger Smile Jan 10, 2011

Went with Calvin to try their stuff. Shall only talk about their Fish Burger for this review.

The fish was Seared (as you can see from the picture).
The "marination" was just nice, with a little taste to the fish, not like overwhelm, altered the taste of the fish fillet.

The amount of mayo, greens and tomato was also well controlled. Quite well done for a simple burger smile

Skip the Ramen, try... Smile Dec 31, 2010

Categories : Japanese

Went by to Tonkichi during the Christmas season with friends for a catching up session.

Saw a review here saying that the Chicken Katsu Curry was alright, so ordered their Ramen instead.
Well, as the title says, Skip the Ramen.

But their Karage was good.
Nice and crispy, well marinated and no oily aftertaste.

Their Katsu is good too. Thick and succulent.
Save the best for the last? I say cut the carbs(Ramen) and go straight in for that piece of protein(Katsu) lol

Sapporo draft is 1 for 1 too. (do call to check if it is still valid~)

Saporro 1 for 1, chicken's good!

Went by to Roast @ One Rochester for some great food and great company.

Our table of 9 was served with an expense of Communal Menu, great desserts and dazzling drinks. lol *So dazzling that I see stars lol

To me, its always about getting the basics right before going on to conquer greater grounds.

I love their Grilled cod fillet with fennel and blood orange salad which is on the top right hand corner next to the Roast Logo. The chewy affair of the fish together with the caramelized layer on the top gives the cod fillet a must-go.

Their Tiger prawn salad with cous cous, pomegranate, mint and persian feta is fascinating as well (see top left hand corner next to the Roast Logo). This is the first time I encounter pomegranate with prawns. Not just that the prawn is fresh, but put together with the pomegranate, their crunchy-ness is a whole new chapter to the dish.

Their starter, The "Nibble" Platter which includes foie gras parfait, game terrine, is a very non-routine dish. In simple terms, they are goose liver moose and rabbit meat (see photo right below Roast Logo). What a new experience it was. That simple softness of the moose with the exotic taste of the goose liver. That game meat texture on a pastry... its like walking on unchartered grounds in the woods of the Twilight movie.

Their dessert of Grande Assiette , I especially love their coffee creme brulee. Its quality. Period. The coffee bean scent, that tinge of sweetness... Its Perfect~ *MuAcKz!

The drinks... How can the night be complete without them right?
Sequencing from left to right, *Lychee Martini, BMW (Baileys, Martini and Whisky) and Cosmopolitan.

Need I say more?
Go figure ;)

Chef Judy, heard of her?

We'll talk abt the Fish and Chip next time, but I absolutely Love their Pralet!!!
Its their Signature dish.

Their Signatured Pralet is a MUST TRY! Kick yourself if you are there and you didnt try it! *unless of course u have medical reasons then you are forgiven*

Its like Bakerzin’s Sweet Pleasure ‘cept without the chocolate slices.
Its not indicated but I think I tasted Hazelnut.

The best part is,
ts crunchy crunchy at the bottom~
*bItes LiPs… Sssss..

Amanda

P/S: As a whole the overall rating for a proper dinner is OK.
