Finally it's graduation for my friends and I! And we get to head down to Xiao Long Bao Crystal Jade in Holland Village to fill our empty stomach to begin a new chapter and end off the great story of our previous 'school life'.
Ma la soup and sweet corn

Ma la soup and sweet corn

It's awesome when we get to choose our soup base, especially when you are with friends and some just don't take spicy (like me!). So I can't tell you how awesome the ma la soup is, you've gotta read the other reviews but I thought the sweet corn soup was so-so-. Maybe because I have high expectations of soup you know?
Mixture of dishes

Mixture of dishes

So we grabbed a lot of dishes (the way you order is to tick off a menu and pass off to the waiters/waitresses). We get the very ShangHai/China feel because the crew are mainly from mainland or city China, so you can expect some fiercer tone when they're speaking to you loudly. Anyway, what can we say about buffet? JUST TAKE AND TRY EVERYTHING!!! lol
Xiao Long Bao!!

Xiao Long Bao!!

But if you are a small eater (thankfully I don't think I am), then go for the best food to fill your stomach. And that's right! XIao Long Bao is definitely the only thing you should fill your tummy with since it cost about $10.80 in other restaurants for 10 xiao long bao. Eat unlimitedly please. Oh don't be so crazy to order 10 cages (shi long in chinese), you'd be sick of it and surely will never touch xiao long bao again. Order the la mian off the buffet menu, that is really good! mad
MORE Xiao Long Bao

MORE Xiao Long Bao

They really are up to their standard and reputation, this delicate work of making the icy soup stay within the xiao long bao and the very thin pieces of skin clasped together makes your mouth simply.. remember the taste forever.
Great food, okay- drinks

Great food, okay- drinks

If you ask me if they need any further improvements, I'd say about the drinks. Honestly I think it'd be better to have more variety of tea, Chinese tea or green tea rather than soft drinks. In fact they could even strip off all the soft drinks the menu! And also to add some fragrance in the restaurant since it's super squeezy on the second level.. and also very difficult to walk when you are in a big group with friends.lol

All in all, there is sooo much more dishes that you can try here but it also depends on your cooking skills. If you talk too much to your friends, the marinate on the meat will surely drain away into the soup, so if you are confident in your 'steamboat' buffet skills, GO for it!

On this lazy Saturday evening, my parents and I decided to hit Thai Express again. It has been our favourite dinner hangout for awhile now, especially with the consistent good service they provide.
Prawn Toast with delicious sweet sauce

Prawn Toast with delicious sweet sauce

The sauce for the Prawn Toast is a perfect blend of Thai sweetness, and there were some parsley flakes hidden in the toast. It was exceedingly crispy that it feels like having Potato chips crackling in your mouth! Four pieces were just nice for three of us. Price: $7.90

With so many reviews for Thai Express' different outlets, can we presume that the taste is equal throughout Singapore? shocked
Thai Honey Chicken Rice Set Meal

Thai Honey Chicken Rice Set Meal

This Thai Honey Chicken RIce comes in a set with watermelon and fish sticks! The honey chicken has subtle juiciness, with the presence of honey marinated on it. What top it off was the exact same sweet sauce given for the Prawn Toast, and strangely it does not make the chicken ultra sweet! Thankfully there are some greens for us to eat. lol
Fish Sticks (Part of Thai Honey Chicken Set Meal)

Fish Sticks (Part of Thai Honey Chicken Set Meal)

Watermelon coated with Brown Sugar

Watermelon coated with Brown Sugar

The fish sticks tasted average, while the watermelon coated with brown sugar makes it such a sinful meal. I skipped the watermelon due to the extreme dosage of sugar. Total Price: $8.90
Fried Mee Sua

Fried Mee Sua

My mother bought this Fried Mee Sua, it was DELICIOUS, I'd definitely get a whole plate to myself the next time I go. With a proper amount of seafood ingredients like prawns, I thought it was quite appetizing. The noodle was succulent and not like your usual 'dead' strings that hang loose from your lips, it wasn't overly oily and the chili flakes is a perfect blend. tongue Price: $9.90
Beef Salad

Beef Salad

Perhaps you might want to think twice before trying the Beef Salad. My dad initially thought it'd be you know, healthy greens with beef, but it turns out to be lots of green with little greens! He ordered an extra bowl of rice to complete the meal, and if you love beef cooked medium-rare this is not for you because it's some tough meat!

To be honest, Thai Express is quite close to the uniquely taste of Thai. It's not as good as the genuine spices that one can get from Thailand because a pepper of local flavour has been added unto it.

Singapore Sling VS Random drink

Singapore Sling VS Random drink

When you're at 70th storey, you'll be expecting to take a longer look at the magnificent view.

But the beautiful ambience of the restaurant makes you can't help but to stare at the ceiling.. and the comfty sofa just makes you want to sleep as a LIVE! Jazz piano and singer plays/sings at the background.

With mostly expatriates and tourists, it just don't feel like you're in Singapore in City Space (if you don't look out of the window that is!)

A beautiful concoction of drinks is mixed by beautiful tall young ladies... i'd say they have the ability to be an air stewardess, the looks and the height.

GREAT GREAT service, super gorgeous women who is willing to serve and go the extra mile.

Anyway the food is really expensive, one spaghetti costs about $25++, so yeah, just go for the drinks.

I first ordered the Singapore Sling and couldn't take the.. 'spiciness', so we saw this other group who ordered a cup that had lots of smoke coming out of it so we asked for the same too. Turns out to be dry ice, and this is really good.

It's very strong, i fell asleep almost immediately after finishing 3/4 of it. so yeah. thankfully I was with my mother!

I couldn't wait to eat any longer— so I took a photo of the other pizza with my iPhone on one hand, and a pizza on the other *grins*. Categories : Dim Sum | Buffet

Bao Today is a 10-year old eatery located in town.

What intrigued me (and still do now) is the absence of a menu for the buffet. Can you imagine going for a buffet where you don't know what is served? This gives me the impression that Bao Today is really confident of their food. Their concept probably caters to the adventurous foodie, the ones who would boldly try new dishes and flavours. You don't order the things you want from any order chit-- be prepared to nod your head away when the friendly service crew comes over with a tray of piping hot Cantonese food. Anyway, indulge in these images of the wonderful spread!

Here's a dim sum classic! The sticky rice is wrapped in a lotus leaf and steamed for really long hours. Quite filling, I'd say.
Of course, Bao Today does retain their Signature food for every buffet, such as their popular Liu Sh Bao (Custard Yolk Bun) and their Siew Mai (Steamed Pork Dumplings with Prawns).

I have so much to rave about these dishes-- they've taken a traditional cantonese dimsum and gave it a unique, modern twist.

The buns used for the Liu Sha Bao have a touch of pandan added into it. This gives it a really fragrant flavour, elevating the taste profile of the dish.

To be honest, I thought the pork chop doesn't look very appealing. Well, they did put in effort for adding more colours using the red and green pepper! I was given a rude wake-up call by this heavenly dish-- it is so tender and juicy, and the sauce is perfectly balanced. Beware of dish hogging if you're with a large group of diners!
