Soy bean milk with grass jelly  Smile Jan 02, 2012

Soybean milk with grass jelly! My favourite combination of drink. smile I decided to get my drinks from this stall which is one of the more famous stalls for selling fresh soybean milk at Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre. There was no queue at all at that point of time. I didn't request for less sugar so it was at original sugar level which was quite sweet. There was quite little grass jelly given. The soy bean milk was indeed fresh, did not taste like those factory made ones. Nice drink to have together with fried pastries like you tiao. smile

Milk tea with white pearls Smile Jan 02, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Haven't had Gong Cha milk tea for some time. It was a very refreshing drink when I had it that day. At fifty percent sugar, the milk tea was still very thick and sweet but I like it because the flavour is still there and you know the sugar level has been reduced so it's less fattening. I asked for white pearls. Expected it to be the white pearls that were more chewy than the black ones but they turned out to be crunchy. I had drink served very quickly, within three minutes although there were quite a few people around.

New Year's Day Dinner OK Jan 02, 2012
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

Had dinner in a private room which had a Karaoke system inside so we could sing in between while waiting for the dishes to be served. it was a seven course menu with a variety of chinese dishes. All the dishes were not bad, quite fresh and flavourful, including the fish, sharksfin soup and the cold dish. However, their fried rice was not very tasty, could not really taste the ingredients inside. There were cubes of brocoli stem inside the rice which made it quite crunchy but weird because usually mixed vegetables is used. It was yam in coconut syrup for dessert. The yam was good, soft and sweet but the coconut syrup was diluted. It was not a very heavy dinner although a good dinner gathering to start off the new year. smile

Beef Noodle Soup OK Dec 31, 2011

The beef noodles soup looked and smelled good as I walked past the store. Decided to try it since this stall had a queue so it had to be good! I was served a bowl which had the ingredients nicely arranged, making it look really appetizing. chopstick The soup was light yet flavourful. There was quite a number of pieces of beef which were a little tough but still edible. What I really liked about this dish was that there was a variety of vegetables that gave every mouthful of food a crunch! smile

Buffet tea reception OK Dec 31, 2011

Had a tea reception buffet by Tim Delight. There were quite a few dishes including wanton, curry puff, hongkong noodles, chicken char siew pau, fried chicken wings and oh-so-good chocolate eclairs! Their food (chicken wings and noodles) were not too salty but could be more flavourful, I needed to get chili sauce for additional flavour. The chicken char siew pau was well steamed, still soft and easy to eat. I really love the eclairs from this caterer. The eclairs are light and you can easily pop a few into your mouth in one go. The cream oozes out of the puff easily as soon as it enters into your mouth, coupled with the chocolate topping on top, it is really awesome. smile
