Green Tea @ Gindaco Cry Aug 17, 2011   (Related Review)

Categories : Japanese | Stall / Kiosk | Desserts and Cakes

I was craving for some green tea so I decided to try the green tea Gindaco sells. When the cashier passed me the drink, I was surprised..but not in a pleasant way. The green tea looked just like vegetable juice. I hesitated to try it..and all I took was a sip before throwing it away. The green tea was way too thick, unlike the kind of green tea I like to drink. I guess it isn't that their green tea is terrible..but rather, its different from regular green tea served in restaurants or those bottled green tea.

I wouldn't try it again but for those who feel adventurous, you may like to give it a try and see whether you'll like the green it smile

Basil Crayfish Pasta  Cry Aug 17, 2011   (Related Review)
Categories : Pasta | Halal

The Basil Crayfish Pasta consists of ocean fresh crayfish and succulent prawns with spaghetti topped off with capsicums, olive oil, toasted garlic and spicy basil sauce. It costs $14.90 for ala carte and $11.90 for Smart Lunch on Wednesday (Which also comes with a drink and soup of the day).

Its not too spicy but rather..too salty. The crayfish was disappointing and the prawns actually taste better than the crayfish. I was very disappointed with the whole dish. To be fair, I guess the high price raised my expectation of the pasta. I'd very much rather stick back to Pizza Hut's Chicken Pomodoro Pasta.

Spending per head: Approximately $14.90(Dinner)

Omurice Cry Aug 16, 2011
Categories : Japanese | Food Court | Ramen | Brunch

This is the only Japanese Cuisine in Koptiam and the only stall that sells Omelette Rice. I was craving for omurice so I gave it a try. The omurice is hardly like normal omurice. Firstly, the omelette, is way too thin and could hardly wrap the rice. There were cracks all over the omelette and it didn't even manage to cover half of the rice. Also, the egg was so thin that you wouldn't know it exists unless you see or feel it.

They put some kind of soy sauce in their rice which does not taste good and overpowers the taste of everything else. The omurice set I ordered came with a side of chicken cutlet which was way too oily and I didn't even eat it after one bite.

It was a bad experience and I'm certainly not going back to the stall after this. It'd be good if the stall hadn't put soy sauce in their rice which gives the rice a weird unbearable taste.

Mini Oreo Cupcake Cry Aug 15, 2011
Categories : Fusion

House of Mini is a pretty new store at Jurong Point, located near to Fairprice Xtra. They sell a variety of cupcakes and cream puffs. Just FYI, they offer cupcake customisation service which is similar to Icing Room's cake customisation service.

I decided to give the mini oreo cupcake a try because the cupcakes just looked so appealing! The mini oreo cupcakes are really mini, in fact, bite-sized. I chose the oreo cupcake b/c it looked the most unique out of the rest of the cupcakes with the oreo sitting on top of cream.

Don't judge a book by its cover..is just the perfect idiom to describe the cupcake. It looked really good but it was absolutely not worth the money (which was $1 for one bite-size cupcake). The cupcake itself is very dry and the cream was not moist either. Additionally, the "oreo" was not exactly oreo. If it is, then it has soften way too much and did not taste like oreo.

Overall, it was a bad experience but I guess we can't judge the whole store on one bite-size cupcake. I'd still give their baby cream puffs a try the next time I'm there but certainly not the cupcakes.

Spending per head: Approximately $1.00(Tea)

Peach Fruit Tart Cry Aug 15, 2011   (Related Review)
Categories : Bakery | Halal

I love fruit tarts and peach fruit tarts in particular are my favourite. I decided to give Prima Deli's peach fruit tart a try. The crust was tasteless and shatters upon contact with anything, really. I tried getting the tart out of the cup using my teeth and then my hands and they both didn't work. I had to just bend the cup to push it out. Additionally, although there's a thick layer of whipped cream, the whipped cream was hardly sweet and has an unpleasant cream smell. The peaches were not sweet and overall the peach fruit tart was a big mistake.

To be fair, I purchased the fruit tart late at night so either it was not fresh any more or it was just bad.
