Average dessert OK Mar 02, 2011

We were looking for a place to sit down and have some food and decided on Dessert Story. I had their steam milk dessert that is a type of hot dessert. Personally, I find the dessert was too thick for my liking. It was sweet though but as it was too thick, you will get sick of it even before you are half way through. The portion is quite big though. I would prefer the texture to be softer and not so thick, like those I tried in Macau. However, the ones here is not like that. Quite disappointed.

Pau and snacks OK Mar 02, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Bakery | Stall / Kiosk | Dim Sum | Brunch

I love chinese snacks and dim sum, so at times I will patronise this stall at Ang Mo Kio Hub to get some pau or fried prawn dumpling to satisfy my craving. The pau that they sell here is of reasonable standard although I would much prefer the pau to be more fluffy and softer in texture. The fillings are okay. Last time I would buy the "Extra Big chicken Pau" but now they do not sell it anymore. The other dim sum items are okay but you cannot compare it with those in the restaurants. Service is quite good.

Good quality ice cream OK Mar 02, 2011

Categories : American | Ice Cream and Gelato

We were doing our shopping when we decided to go for ice cream. We waited for a while before we were led to a table. We ordered a couple fondue. It came with 5 scoops of ice cream of your choice and there are fruits and pieces of waffle and some other items. The portion is not huge, quite different from what you see from the menu itself. Our order took quite a while before it is being served. The ice cream is very delicious and the chocolate is very thick and a bit sweet. It is fun to dip what you want into the chocolate.

One point to note is that their service staff are not local, thus they at times do not speak english well. But overall, the service is still okay.

Sour Mango cake OK Mar 02, 2011

Categories : Peranakan / Nonya | Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

I have bought a mango cake as a birthday cake. The cake looked very tempting with the many layers of mango slices, however the mango slices were quite sour. As for the cake itself, the sponge cake layers were very soft and the texture is very good. The fresh cream was sweet and nice. It would be better if the mango slices were of the sweet type instead. Service wise was quite good as they carefully packed the cake.

cosmos Cuisine - Noodles  OK Mar 02, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Hainanese | Café

This place is a very small outlet with only a few tables. It is quite space constraint so you tend to sit very close to another table or right behing you is another person with seats touching each other. A bit cramp.

Food wise, it is okay. The noodles are quite good and you do not have to wait very long before they served your order to your table. It is a good alternative if you do not want to eat at the Kovan hawker centre, as this place is air conditioned. The noodles are springy but the portion is not very huge though.

Spending per head: Approximately $6(Lunch)
