Nice and freshly baked cheese bread
Smile 2011-03-17

Crystal Jade My Bread ( Bugis )
I happened to pass by this outlet and went in to take a look. In the end, I ended up with a loaf of cheese bread. It caught my attention because the cheese was visible on the bread and it looked quite tempting. When I reached home, I tried a piece and I quite like it as the bread was very soft, indicating that it was freshly baked. In between each bite, you can taste the cheese. The cheese was slightly hard and together with the bread, you will experience different texture and taste. A very well balanced of sweetness and saltiness. Interesting.

Nice pizza during the CNY promotion
Smile 2011-03-17

Pizza Hut ( Little India )
It was during the Feb period that pizza hut introduced this new type of pizza and I packed one home. It was very tasty with the so called bak kwa as one of its ingredients. The dough was very fresh and with the sauce, the pizza tasted slightly sweet. However, this was balanced up by the cheese that has been stuffed into the crust. I loved the stuff crust pizza as I love cheese. The pineapple bits on the pizza provided moisture and was very refreshing. It came with some crispy bits that you can put o top of the pizza. The bits were very nice, can even eat it on its own.

Quiet day at subway despite It show
Smile 2011-03-17

Subway ( City Hall )
It was during the IT show event, we went to Subway to pack some food. I had the cold cut trio again since it was the promotion item on Friday. This time round, I had the honey oat bread with all veggies and topped with red wine sauce. The sauce was qute okay but I still prefer the honey mustard sauce.

The veggies and the bread were fresh. With such fresh ingredients, the subway sandwich was very nice and delicious. So healthy. I also topped up my meal so that I have a drink and 2 pieces of cookies too. The cookies were nice and I always love subway's cookies.

The place was not crowded at all, perhaps it was after the lunch hour. Very quiet environment.

A nice not so crowded place
Smile 2011-03-10 (Related Review)

Burger King ( Little India )
We were near the area so we dropped by to pack our lunch. I had the mushroom swiss meal, changed the drink to a cup of hot tea. I find that their beef patty was a bit dry but they gave a very generous amount of mushroom sauce which was very nice. It helped to reduce the dryness of the beef. The fries was good when eaten hot but it was a bit soggy by the time we reached home. The hot tea was still hot though.

Service was quite good at this outlet as the is not much crowd at that time. Quite a good place to sit down to rest if you are doing shopping there.

Delicious cake
Smile 2011-03-10

The Royal's Café ( Little India )
We were there for a purpose, that was to celebrate a friend's birthday. After walking and looking at the cake shops, we decided to get one for the Royal's cafe. It was a tiramisu cake and it was square in shape. Service was good as we left the cake there as we were not done with our shopping. The service staff gladly accepts our request.

The cake was very delicious. The texture was so soft and the cream was so smooth that even single bite of the cake seems to be melting in your mouth. A little bit sweet but has a very good flavour. The chocolate or cocoa powder on top of the cake has a slight bitter taste and it compliments the sweetness of the cake very well. Yummy.

The outdoor area is quite dark
Just OK 2011-03-10

Burger King ( Changi )
We went for a sale at the expo and went for dinner at this outlet of Burger king. There were many people but we managed to find a seat. As it was about 7 plus in the evening, the area became quite dim and sitting under the shade, it was really quite dim. The seats had been polluted by birds since it was outdoor area. There was no sufficient lighting so you can imagine having to have your food in a very romantic way cos quite dark. Perhaps they should have more lightings. The food wise was quite standard. I had mushroom swiss burger set. The beef patty was slightly dry but the mushroom sauce managed to save it. Service was okay but it takes a while before we were served.

Quite a nice place for food
Smile 2011-03-10

Macau Express ( Changi )
It was quite some time back when I first tried out this restaurant. I remembered it was a weekday dinner and we only managed to get an outdoor seat as all the indoor seats were taken.

I had ordered their famous portuguese baked half chicken with rice set and a cup of hot watercress drink. The portion of the chicken was quite small, something like the size of those spring chicken. Taste wise was not bad and the chicken was qute tender. As for the hot watercress drink, it was quite good as you seldom will be able to find such drinks in Singapore. Quite sweet though but has the flavour of watercress. Overall, not bad.

Just average in taste
Just OK 2011-03-10

The Diet Butler ( Newton )
After winning the voucher from December's contest, we went to have our lunch at The Diet Butler one Monday afternoon. As we were still early, we were their first customers there.

The environment is quite okay, very simple. The service staff quickly showed us the menu and informed the soup of the day was brocollies soup. At first, I intended to get the grilled salmon with lemon caper sauce but was informed it was out of stock as they had a party the day before and it has been used up. So, I settled for ribeye steak with mushroom sauce. Other main course includes a grilled dory with herb and lime butter. We also order the soup, a mango and sauteed shrimp salad with cous cous, 1 tea (Pot) and 2 coffee.

For the mango and sauteed shrimp salad with cous cous, the shrimp are very fresh and sweet. The mango bite are also quite nice but we were not very used to the cous cous. I will rate it 3 out of 5.

As they have run out of mushroom sauce for the ribeye steak, they recommended another sauce for it that has pineapple blended, so that it is a bit spicy and sour. I like this sauce, very appetising. However, the ribeye steak was overcooked. My medium rare has become medium or even well done. The steak was thus tough and dry. I will rate it a 2 out of 5.

The dory fish was quite good but with the herb and lim butter sauce, you will get tired of it after a while. Luckily with the sauce from my ribeye steak, my friend can have a different taste for her dory. She let me tried some of the dory and I also prefer it with the a little spicy, sweet and sour sauce. The dory was fresh though. 3 and 1/2 points.

The best part will be the soup. The brocollis soup with some fresh cream on top was thick and nice. You can enjoy the blended brocollis in every mouthful. This is the best. I gave it a 4 and 1/2 out of 5.

Coffee and tea was standard although I would prefer my coffee to be more fragrant and have a stronger coffee aroma.

Service was good . Just that some of the food items do need some improvement. But it was good that they can recommend new things when some of the items are out of stock.

Nice traditional biscuits
Smile 2011-03-10

Poh Guan Cake House ( Chinatown )
We were at Chinatown and specially went to look for this bakery as I was told their traditional cakes and biscuits are very nice. I bought a few type (wife biscuits, Sweet bean paste biscuits and salted bean paste biscuits) and I really loved their sweet bean paste biscuits. The taste is very balanced, not too sweet. You can still feel the slightly grinded texture of the beans. The pastry is also very well done, a bit flaky. The salted bean paste bisuit is also quite nice, not too salty. They have many other types of biscuits, maybe next time I will try their water chestnut biscuit.

Only the wanton is nice
Cries 2011-03-08

Roasted Delight ( Hougang )
This is my very first time and also my very lst time buying noodles from this stall. The noodles has a veyr strong taste of the "gan" taste. It tasted bitter. Even with the sauce, the bitter taste cannot be masked. The char siew is very dry. The texture of the noodles is also very dry. The only good thing is that the wantons are nice as the meat has been well seasoned and was very tender. That is the only thing I like.

Wife Biscuit
Smile 2011-03-08

Crystal Jade Kitchen ( Woodlands )
After trying so many wife biscuits that is also known as "Lao po bing" in the market, I personnally find that the ones that Crystal Jade my bread sells is still the better ones. The texture of the inner fillings was just nice and smooth, the sweetness is also very balanced. The pastry is quite flaky but good. Overall, the wife biscuit is more similar to the version that I had tried before in Hong Kong. Must give it a try.

Always the healthy and delicious pancake
Smile 2011-03-08

Jollibean ( Yishun )
The pancakes that are being sold at Jollibean are always so fresh and full of generous fillings. The texture of the pancake is very soft and smooth. Every mouthful, there will be fillings. This time round, I had the red bean paste fillings or so called the "tau sa" paste. The paste is very smooth and it has been grinded till very fine. Quite sweet but not overwhelming. It makes a good and delicious breakfast and snack. Their peanut version is also every nice.

My Teriyaki Chicken Burger
Smile 2011-03-08

MOS Burger ( Raffles Place )
This outlet is frequent by white collar workers in the area. As I happened to be in the area, I drop in for a meal. I like MOS Burger as they only start to prepare your foor items upon your order. The teriyaki burger still taste delicious. The chicken meat is moist and tender, coated evenly with teriyaki sauce. Moreover, there is a generous amount of green veggies. The standards is the same as other outlets. Service is quite good and I also like their tea. Yummy.

Nice and tender chicken
Smile 2011-03-08

Texas Chicken ( Serangoon )
Was at Nex and wanted to get the promotion set for dinner. The Ultimate Value meal comes with 1 piece of chicken, 2 piece tenders, 1 biscuit, 1 mashed potato and 1 drink. The best part is that it costs only $4.90.

The service is quite good. The staff gave many packets of chilli sauce. I had the spicy chicken. The meat is very tender and moist. A bit salty though but still very nice. The 2 pieces of tenders are not too dry. The mashed potato is thicker as not as smooth when compared to KFC, but the gravy is also thicker. What I like best is the biscuit. It got a very buttery taste, salty but vey nice. The best I had tried so far. Just for their biscuit, I will definitely go back again.
