Yoshinoya Beef and Vegetable Bowl

Yoshinoya Beef and Vegetable Bowl

Had a takeaway beef bowl and added vegetables. Felt shortchanged cos the beef they gave me was so little! Usually a beef bowl has much more beef! The vegetables were blah tasting... I think they just boiled them in water...

However, the beef tasted great as usual. A bit like the beef in the yakiniku rice burger over at Mos. I just wish they would have given more! I don't think a regular beef bowl they would have dared to give so little beef, its probably cos I added the veg. Won't add veg next time!

Categories : Chinese Soup

Went to Soup Restaurant at about 7 plus with hubby. As we expected, it was full. We waited more than half an hour for a table.

We ordered the Samsui Ginger Chicken, which is still my absolute favourite item on the menu, and I don't even LIKE ginger!

We had the Beggar Tofu which was very good too, but the Garlic Prawns were a huge disappointment. Couldn't taste the garlic... more like mushroom sauce?

Paid about $50 for 3 dishes, 2 Chinese Tea. Price is ok for the quality and portion of food. Will definitely be back, but not during peak periods!

Bought 2 tubs ice cream parfaits and 3 waffles.

Parfaits were $5.90 a tub and waffles were $3 per pc.

We had the Chocolate flavour parfaits. Truly super yummy! A pity can only last half an hour outside with an icepack or I would have gotten few more to bring home.

Brought the waffles home and had them the next day for tea. Green tea flavour was the best and caramel was good too, though I would have preferred a bit more caramel! The strawberry was ok...

Overall I loved the items and will definitely be back to try the other parfaits. My only gripe was that the staff seemed a little moody or tired. Or it could be because I used 2 vouchers?
Just a thought. The lacklustre service didn't affect the yummy taste of the desserts!

Expensive for the Quality of food OK Aug 13, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi | Kids-Friendly

Had dinner here with hubby. Being a weekend, as expected it was crowded. We sat at the counter.

I used a voucher for the Teriyaki Chicken rice. We ordered additional salmon sashimi, soft shell crab tempura, kani chawanmushi and various types of sushi picked from the conveyor belt.

The rice was ok, quite big portion and the Teriyaki chicken was good. Salmon Sashimi and the other sushi types were not cold. It made me think that the items may have been sitting on the conveyor belt for quite some time. Next time we'll order directly from the server instead of picking from the belt, but then that would kinda take the fun out of it right?

Was disappointed by the soft shell crab tempura as it was very oily and greasy. When I bit into it, the oil actually oozed out and it was quite a bit of oil. Perhaps the oil wasn't hot enough when they fried it...

The so-called kani chawanmushi was a laugh. I thought it would be similar to Sushi Tei's version with real crab meat strips. haha it turned out to be CRABSTICK pieces! Won't order this dish ever again.

Overall a slightly below average dining experience. Was quite good for people watching though! Saw old uncles with young Vietnamese/Chinese women, middle-aged men ogling the women, typical local families dining out.

For the price we paid, about SGD20per person(excluding the voucher for Teriyaki Chicken Rice), it is far too expensive for the quantity and quality of the food.

18 Course Yakiniku Set OK Aug 13, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi | Buffet | Japanese BBQ/Teppanyaki

Had dinner here the day after National Day with my hubby.

We used 2 vouchers bought from Deal.com.sg for the 18 course Yakiniku Set.

Location is a bit confusing and "ulu" but once we found it, was very easy to spot as it is right in front next to the entrance. Car park is easily available, but open-air.

Restaurant is nicely done-up and staff are friendly and good service, even opening the door for us when we were about to leave.

Food portion was very generous considering we are using vouchers. 2 of us couldn't finish all the food! Quality-wise is very average, the pork and beef cuts were thin and didn't have enough "bite". But the chicken, squid and prawns were all good.

Liked the chawanmushi and tori karaage, plus the ice cream I had for dessert was yummy!

Overall a nice place and relaxed environment with friendly staff. A fun dining experience.
