Shi Fu Ge Restaurant ( Sembawang )

price: market price S$15-20
Love this flavouful assam fish head. spicy, sweet & sour, it really kicks a punch. Chunky pineapples and lady fingers complement this dish really well. Kept hot over a bunsen burner. I really cannot get enough of it.

price: S: S$5, M:S$8, L:S$10
Seafood noodles, I love the simplicity of this dish. generous servings of prawns and sotong, It helps clear my palate after tasting the other heavier dishes.

price: S:S$6, M:S$8, L:S$10
This is one of my favourite dishes, especially since Im an eggplant lover. Love that it comes with lima beans, which is rarely served in other restaurants. Lima beans gives this dish a really exotic taste and complements the chilli paste , lady fingers and tofu really well. This is one really special crab this.. first time in my life have I tasted crab cooked in coconut and condensed milk. Love the sweet sauce which brings out the flavour in the crab meat.

Overall I had a fabulous meal here. I would definitely come back again & bring my friends & family here. Every dish has its own distinct character. I am really satisfied and delighted. Service is quick & staff is friendly. Great place for a cozy meal with friends and family.

good beef noodles
Smile 2012-06-29

Lai Lai Casual Dining ( Serangoon )
tried the beef noodles at lai lai casual dining
meat is chewy and well marinated. soup base is tasty but a bit salty. noodles has good texture as well - spongy and chewy.
mee sua is bland, bubble tea has good flavour but i find it a little diluted.
staff is friendly. they acted swiftly to help us arrange tables when saw that we had a big group.
deep friend chicken cutlets taste great too. overall, not the best taiwanese food, but still reasonable for the price range. simple set meal options makes it easy to order.

durian pancake
Smile 2012-06-29

Emicakes ( Pasir Ris )
Besides eggless cakesa at two dollars each, emicakes also have a section whereby they make fresh durian pancakes on the spot.
staff is friendly and was quick to give recommendations on their various food items.
tried their fresh D24 durian pancake. pancake is good, and the amount of flour is just right. Durian filling is good but can get a little watery.
chocolate eggless cakes - quite sweet, texture is soft and fluffy, chocolate I feel is not rich enough. I think I still prefer cakes with egg for the more buttery taste. whipped cream is plentiful and can get messy.
overall is good given their price range.

good burgers
Smile 2012-06-29

Relish ( Serangoon )
Decided to visit Relish at Maju avenue for their burgers since I've heard that they are comparable to the Hand Burger in town.
Tried their signature wild rocket beef burger . the bread has good texture , beef is tender and their own special sauces complement it perfectly. dish comes with fries and salad at an additional cost of 3.50 dollars. staff did not inform us of this additional when we ordered, hence the bill came as a surprise. place is pretty small, and our group of 9 had to sit at one long bench, making it hard to communicate across the table. Overall is still a great place for quality food.

soy bean ice cream
Smile 2012-06-29

Mr Bean ( Novena )
one of my favourite ice cream has to be Mr Bean's soya bean ice cream
it's very healthy at only 136 calories an ice cream.
Like that this soya bean ice cream is less sweet and more solid than Mcdonalds soft serve ice cream, Although its less creamier than Mcdonalds'
also like the strawberry variant which they offer during national day month of august last year
very refreshing! makes a good afternoon snack, especially when out in the hot sun smile

great service and food is served quickly. Yummy!. will keep coming back for more. smile

strawberry dessert
Smile 2012-06-29

Marriott Café ( Orchard )
it was 11pm & I was trying to find a place for desserts around orchard.
Besides Mcdonalds & TCC, Marriott cafe was an obvious choice since their cafe caters to crowd in the hotel lobby
tried their recommended strawberry dessert which appears first on their dessert menu. It is made of glazed strawberries and cream custard topped with whipped crem and attractively sprinkled with almond and chocolate flakes. Its really good, custard is not too sweet and has great texture, overall its just perfect combination of strawberries, custard & cream smile Will definitely come back for more

red beans are huge and crunchy, love that its not too sweet
comes with lots of satan , green tentacles like jelly, black chin chow jelly, and a sweet kind of fruit with is slightly translucent & chewy. love that portion they give is generous. A great dessert when you need something sweet and refreshing to quench your thirst! Will definitely come back to try their other dessert varieties smile

good french truffles
Smile 2012-06-29

Cacao7 Low Carb Chocolates ( Somerset )
Decided to try chocolate at this shop which claims that their chocolate is all organice & low carb, using sugar that is all natural hence is diabetic friendly
tried their French Truffles at around $3 fro 2 pieces.
its really good, chocolate is rich and texture is smooth, you can really taste that its of quality .
& best thing is that its not overwhelmingly sweet
Will definitely go back again to try their other chocolate varieties

dori yaki
Just OK 2012-06-29

Mr. Obanyaki Pancake ( Orchard )
Decided to try this dori yaki at food basement of takashimaya
I asked the staff to recommend something which is less sweet & they asked me to take the cheese one, claiming that its really tasty. My dori yaki wasnt warmed. flour is thick and filling is little, the cheese tastes alright, something like the ones in Mr Bean or Jollibean pancakes. Overall its disappointing, nothing special & not something that I would want to eat again. too floury..the fish looks cute though

good popiah
Smile 2012-06-29

Yi Kou Wei ( Bishan )
one of my favourite popiahs are from yi kou wei, a chinese food stall that sells all kinds of chinese snacks and delicacies such as carrot cake, muah chee, yam cake, glutinous rice and of course their freshly made on the spot popiah

popiah skin is thin. love that they give generous fillings of that thinly shredded potato slices & that popiah is made in a way that it is not soggy. Ask them to add more of the crunchy bits if you like it more crunchy. staff will ask you if you want spicy or not. spicy option is REALLY spicy and can be overpowering ..opt for the less spicy or non-spicy.

lovely breadstick
Smile 2012-06-29

Auntie Anne's ( River Valley )
my favourite place for a light snack or have something to bite on-the-go or in the cinemas
my favourite is the cheese breadstick - love that its not as sweet as the other varieties
its flavourful, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside
can be slightly oily so remember to get tissues from them .
breadstick goes well with coffee and other beverages such as coke , lemonade or bubble tea.
May also try the cinnamon one if you have got a sweet tooth

good crepes
Smile 2012-06-29

Avanti Espresso ( River Valley )
love the dessert crepes here
crepes are thin and too floury hence you can eat 3 at a go and not feel sick in the stomach or squeamish from eating too much sweet stuff.
tried the crepe with walnut pieces, - walnut pieces are few topped with whipped cream - okay
original - choice of cinnamon or vanilla powder
exotic honey - love the sour taste which complements the crepe
favourite are the ones chocalate glazed and topped with ice cream
staff is friendly !

Chocolate cake comes in a huge chunk of a slice.
Chocolate is rich and cake is filled with banana pieces.

really good cheese cake
Smile 2012-06-29

Ichiban Sushi ( Toa Payoh )
Ichiban's desserts and takeaway section has the most delicious sponge cheese cake.
Cheese cake has a nice brownish colour with its trademark cow mascot impression on it.
love the texture of this cake - its firm on the outside, moist and cheesy on the inside.
its best to finish it within the day you purchase it as it will start to lose a bit of its flavour the next day
Overall i Love it! - makes a great light dessert & splendid for parties & celebrations! smile
