Decided to check out this place for some magaritas and the sights and sounds of Arab street. The mojitos and magaritas were well made and the ambience was a nice place for friends and partners to hangout.

As for the food, there really are much better places for mexican food out there. We ordered the cactus salad (which tasted like aloe vera), quesidellas with mushroom and chicken and beef fajitas. Overall, it was forgettable and the flat breads were not impressive.

Having said that, the overall decor was enjoyable so I would really suggest this place for drinks and nachos, eat first before you go!

Hans more expensive cousin OK May 18, 2012

Went there for their lunch time special, which was a free soup, ice-cream and drink for every main ordered. The place was quite empty but the staff were friendly and prompt in their service.

The butter herb fish was not bad, the vegetables were cooked just right. The corn soup was very diluted, we didn't finish it as it just wasn't that appetizing. My friend ordered the spaghetti with tomato and mince meat which was decent.

The last time we ordered the wasabi prawns which was done alright.

A very mediocre dining experience in a rather mediocre cafe though value for money.

Recommended for students and office workers on a budget but still would prefer a fairly decent dining experience.

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

I first discovered the wonderful dish of salted custard egg buns at Big Boss restaurant in Vivo a few years ago and ever since, its been a must-order dish during every dim sum outing.
Located in the clustered shops of Sunshine plaza, Victor's Kitchen is low on decor but high on taste. Like a typical HK style eatery, its serviced by efficient but no extra perks approach when it comes to service.

Another food highlight is their signature style carrot cake, that comes in a bowl and topped with delicious home-made gravy. A Must Try.

Avoid lunch time as the crowd and the waiting time is brutal during weekdays. Weekends are better, great if you are able to head down for an indulgent tea time.
Be prepared to squeeze as the tables and chairs are quite packed together but hey! sure makes for a cosy get together amongst friends.

Great place for Coffee Lovers Smile Aug 06, 2011

Categories : Café

Heard about this place from a friend who raved about the coffee here and being a bit of a coffee lover myself, I had to check it out. Went with a group of colleagues during their lunch time and found the place to be busy with lunch time action.
Finding the place wasn't as hard as it was one of the larger cafes located in the Biopolis area and I think its patrons are mostly people from around that area.

We order the lunch sets available while we enjoyed the breezy alfresco seating, which we thought would be too hot in our sunny island. Our food order came and it was a LB Special burger (recommended by my friend and by some other website I think), their seafood baked rice and a chicken mayo sandwich. The portions were quite generous but my table lapped up every drop of their creamy corn soup, which apparently was home made. I loved the caramelized onions and melted cheese on my burger so no complains there.

So for the coffee, we ordered the cappuccino, latte and their Long Black coffee and being foodies, we decided to indulge in a homemade carrot cake to go with it. The coffee art in our latte and cappuccino was perfect, a rarity here in Singapore I think. The beans were roasted JUST RIGHT, so don't expect a burnt aftertaste that you sometimes get at other main stream coffee joints like Starbucks or Coffee Bean. What I REALLY loved about it was the richness of the brew, which I suspect came from their shiny machine that the word mirage on it. (I asked the owner about the machine and he said the machine is one of the best in the industry and is fast while still making sure that each brew is rich in taste and quality. If you want to get one, you can check it out at www.keesvanderwesten.com/mirage-veloce.html)

The coffee went down so well that we ordered a few more so we would have more buzz when we drag ourselves back to work. Would I come back for more coffee fixes? Definitely! smilesmilesmile

Home cook French Fare at its best Smile Oct 10, 2010

Read alot of rave reviews about this place so decided to celebrate a friend's birthday there. I'm not one for hyped restaurants so I was prepared to be a cynical diner. Boy was I impressed with the food.

We ordered the Fried Tripe and Escargots for starters, it was obvious that the ingredients were fresh and it wasn't over fried or left an oily after taste in your mouth. I loved the cheesy puffs that had the escargots tucked within it, not too heavy and the dip mixture was not too tangy with just a right tinge of tomato sweetness.

Everyone got a bit greedy and I think the sharing portions for their food really fits into the community feel that Asian dining is all about. The food came promptly and so we had the roast chicken (a MUST try), steak and pork collar. I've never tasted roast chicken that was so juicy and succulent, I really wondered how the one can get chicken breast meat to be as tender as thigh meat. The steak was good enough but we ordered a second portion of the pork collar cos its that good.

The apple tart in dessert was really yummy but the best part was when the Head Chef (I think his name is Anthony?) heard that it was a birthday celebration at our table, he personally came out to serve their birthday dessert for our friend and even sang the birthday song with us, what a nice guy.

The decor is a little mixed, not sure about the multi coloured chairs but I really like the design of the menu! Its like a clip board so it makes you feel like you are "in-charge" when you are ordering.

This place is definitely not for those on a strict diet and those who flee at the sight of pork fat and rich foods. But if you want a semi-decadent, warm and cosy evening out with friends with no pretension or delicately arranged food, then this is your place.

Heard that they are booked out usually for the MONTH in advance so guess I'll have to wait a while before I get to dig into that awesome roast chicken! tongue
